Just to correct a few things on colored skates.<br />The Seals had 4 different colored skate variations during the Finley era, five if you count when the team got sold back to the NHL late in 73-74 and the players finished out the season in traditional skates (I saw one of the first games in traditional skates here in NY, Rangers road game at Oakland). You can find a few pics of the Seals in their green/gold unis with traditional skates from late in that season.<br /><br />You're off in your timeline when you say, "after their transition to Oakland". They started their first 3 seasons in the green/blue/white uniform colors, pre-Finley. Once Finley took over, they had gold skates with green trim, green skates with gold trim, white skates with dark green trim (not black as you said), and all white skates with green laces.<br /><br />You mentioned the Blues as using colored skates briefly, and Pittsburgh did also. The two teams played each other and there's a pic online of both teams with colored skaes, amazing. Also, five players from the Finley era wound up on the 73-74 Golden Blades so they got to wear white skates for two different teams!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
