The Hockey Show is proud to welcome Dalhousie Tiger Isabelle Germain to the show today! Isabelle will be talking about a tough subject as we discuss hazing after she and her teammates were suspended from playing hockey for Dalhousie for an alleged hazing incident. There's a lot more to this story than what we'll cover in our thirty minutes, and I'll post the articles I wrote on the incident and its fallout below. I do want to say upfront that Isabelle is a smart, articulate young lady, and I feel that you may find her story interesting considering what has happened since the allegations surfaced.
Before you start forming an opinion about her, please read through the following articles to get a sense of what has happened since the suspension and drama that she and her teammates have faced. It's an incredible read.
- It's Not Just The Boys - The allegations surface, and I judge the women based on the allegations only. I probably should get both sides of the story.
- Actions Have Consequences - Dalhousie University refuses to release its findings, and the women speak out. I fess up that I may have judged the women too quickly.
- Money End The Season - After Dalhousie refuses to change its punishment, the women pursue legal options. Expensive lawsuits aren't really a student's priority, so the cost of bringing this fight to the courts ends the battle. But the women push on, and they win in the court of public opinion.
We're not going to dwell on the subject of hazing for the entire show, though. We'll talk to Isabelle about growing up in Guelph, Ontario, her Dalhousie teammates, why she wears #22, and we'll finish the interview with our rapid-fire questions! If you have a question for Isabelle, I encourage you to tweet them at @TeebzHBIC so we can ask them! Make sure you tune in for Isabelle's interview at
6:00PM CT on 101.5 UMFM!
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
