The Hockey Show - Episode Thirty-Four

The Hockey Show returns tonight with our eyes focused on the NHL Playoffs! The first couple of days have been nothing short of exciting and intriguing, and we'll look at what has gone on in the first two days of the "second season", some of the bigger stories, and some of the underwhelming performances from players that should play bigger. The NHL Playoffs are always a good topic to rouse the emotions and incite some chatter!

We'll also update our listeners on the Survivor: NHL Playoffs pool we're running as there has been three prizes awarded already! Congratulations go out to Stu who is represented by the St. Louis Blues! The Blues scored the first overtime goal of the playoffs, narrowing edging out Barry, represented by the Chicago Blackhawks, on Tuesday night. The difference in the goals was literally less than a minutes, but Alex Steen's overtime goal against the Kings came seconds before Bryan Bickell's goal against the Minnesota Wild in the extra frame. Congratulations, Stu, and we'll be in contact shortly! Also winning prizes were Jared and Judy in the opening game of the Penguins-Islanders series. Jared saw his goaltender in Marc-Andre Fleury record the first shutout while Judy took home the first game misconduct as Marty Reasoner was given the boot for a kneeing major on Jussi Jokinen. We'll be in contact!

We're also going to open up the phone lines to get your thoughts on the playoffs and anything that has gone on thus far. If you want to talk Don Cherry and his rant, we'll take that call. If you want to chat about the Winnipeg Jets, we'll put you on. If you'd like to comment on Jesse Deckert and his run in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, we'll give you the floor. Basically, we're giving you a chance to get your hockey thoughts out tomorrow, so call in at (204) 269-UMFM (8636) and we'll talk some puck!

All this and more can be heard on The Hockey Show at 6pm on 101.5 UMFM!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
