The Hockey Show will be busy tonight and for the next couple of weeks as we head towards Pledge-O-Rama! We're going to look at a number of things on tonight's show, so get yourself settled at 5:30pm CT and surf on over to 101.5 UMFM for all the hockey chatter. We'll be talking about the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba Bisons men's and women's teams and their opening weekends, where Beans and I will be after the show to catch the Jets game, Pledge-O-Rama's show and the NHL '94 Tournament! We'll have our regular Russian Roundup feature where we look at former Jets in the KHL, Manitobans in the KHL, and friends of the show Brandon Reid and Jared Aulin. And finally, I'll have an update on a few upcoming guests!
I know that TSN's Panel asked about it on The Quiz last night during their broadcast, but I 100% agree with all three men that Tomas Hertl's move on his fourth goal of the evening is pure skill. If you didn't see it, here is Tomas Hertl scoring his fourth goal of the night to make it an 8-2 game as he victimizes Martin Biron. Major props to @CJZero for this.
Beans and I will discuss this move in terms of whether it is skill or showboating, and we'll take your calls if you want to weigh in on Hertl's move as well. We'll also talk rookies as Sean Monahan, Nathan MacKinnon, and the above Tomas Hertl appear to the favorites for the Calder Trophy early into the season.
Finally, no one commented on the streaming radio feed - aka HBIC Radio - I set up yesterday? That was a little surprising. In any case, if you're a podcaster or you would like to do a show about hockey, I'd love to talk to you. I'm looking for talented broadcasters who want to talk hockey. I'd like to diversify the sound on the stream, so if you want to contribute, contact me here. And if nothing else, please give the stream a click and listen in. I'm still working on putting some good stuff up there, so there will be some changes over the next week.
We want to hear from you tonight about any topic, though, so feel free to call us at (204) 269-UMFM (269-8636). I'll be monitoring the tweets so tweet us at @TeebzHBIC. It's going to be another hour that's bursting at the seams, so settle in and give us a listen! And if you can't be there at 5:30pm CT for the live show, hear it on HBIC Radio starting Friday morning!
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
Moves like Hertl are allowed and even encouraged during the shootout.
