With Beans needing the evening off, we have a chair open in the studio so I'm going to fill it. The lady on the left in the photo should be well-known to listeners as we've had her on the show to talk women's hockey a few times before. Nicole Haase will join us from her home base in Wisconsin, and we'll get her take on the issues.
Among the various topics tonight, we'll dive into the CWHL-vs-NWHL chatter about players leaving, playing for pay, and whether the product on the ice will ultimately determine the fates of these two leagues. We'll chat about the salaries some of the players are being paid and whether it's in line with what we perceive they deserve for their efforts, why Hockey Canada and Hockey USA aren't being tapped for some funding considering the CWHL and NWHL are providing places for their national team members to play, whether or not the NCAA should begin paying players and why the national team programs aren't required to pay them for all their work, why the CIS is virtually invisible on the sports map in North America despite there being good players playing in the CIS and having graduated from the CIS, and whether or not Russia is the emerging powerhouse in women's hockey with their stars and the new WHL starting up in Russia.
The opinions will be dissected, discussed, and tossed around as Teebz, Nicole, Mike, and Emerald weigh on the women's game and these issues. This is a show you don't want to miss if you're a fan of the women's game, so tune your radio dial in the Winnipeg region to 101.5 FM or you can listen live between 5:30pm and 6:30pm CT on your web-enabled device at the UMFM webpage!
