NHL Game Time!

There might be no better hockey video game than NHL '94. The Sega Genesis version of the game was, and might still be, the best video game version of the fastest game played by humans, and I still play my version at home today on my Genesis. In saying this, we'll be bringing the console and game in for another year's worth of Pledge-O-Rama at UMFM in October, and I highly recommend any fans of the game and/or radio station to jump on and play a few games in October! We'll be waiting for the best of the best to come down and throw their best efforts into beating DJs, show hosts, and staff at UMFM!

I have to say that with all the technological advancements in computers, the old games still have a nostalgic feeling. It's not exactly the Sega Genesis version, but the PC edition of EA Sports' NHL Hockey from the 1993 NHL season is still a fun way to pass some time. You get all the greats on their teams in 1993 - Lemieux with the Penguins, Gretzky with the Kings, Yzerman with the Red Wings, Selanne with the Jets - and the game is ridiculously fun!

Before you get started, you need to know some controls. The arrow keys on your keyboard will direct your players around the ice. The space bar is used for shooting on offence and bodychecking/speed bursts on defence. The alt key is used to pass on offence and change players/pokecheck on defence. Most importantly, if you hit ALT + ENTER, you can make the game go full-screen for easier play. Choose your team wisely, and have at it, kids!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
