The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced hockey radio show, is back with show #199! Can you believe we've made it through nearly 200 shows yet without having been threatened with lawsuits or someone wanting to kill us? Yeah, we're shocked too. While next week's show is an important milestone in the life of the show, today's show features a pre-recorded interview with a man making incredible differences in the lives of children and their families. Teebz and TJ will also be in studio to talk a little hockey, so get settled in to meet one of hockey's most charitable people and hear some banter between the two hosts!
His list of hockey accomplishments is rather incredible: World Junior champion in 1988, two-time Stanley Cup champion in 1990 and 1994, 50-goal scorer, Bill Masterton Award winner, King Clancy Award winner, and many team-based award wins as well. Adam Graves is one of the best wingers to have ever skated in the NHL, but his off-ice work with charities and organizations was always an important part of his game. Because of Adam Graves' efforts, many children's lives have been improved. However, it was after his retirement that he ramped up the charitable work when he and a friend founded the Smilezone Foundation which I wrote about earlier this week. I had the privilege of sitting down with Mr. Graves to talk about the amazing work his charity has done, is doing, and will be doing in the future!
Outside of that, Teebz and TJ will be looking at a few smaller items such as George McPhee's new desert address, the continued summer moves of AHL teams, and where Teebz will be on the weekend! We'll probably have a bit of discussion about Mr. Graves and the Smilezone Foundation after the half-hour interview runs, so stick around because, as you know, TJ is a die-hard Oilers fan!
With the interview running tonight, the phones will be closed, so make sure you tune your radio dial in the Winnipeg region to 101.5 on your FM dial or listen live between 5:30pm and 6:30pm CT on your web-enabled device at the UMFM webpage! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter. You can also post some stuff to Facebook if you use the "Like" feature, and I always have crazy stuff posted there that doesn't make it to the blog or show. Adam Graves and the Smilezone Foundation occupy the top billing on The Hockey Show tonight and can be heard only on 101.5 UMFM!
PODCAST: July 14, 2016: Episode 199
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
