Everybody's Doing It

I'm not sure what Walt Disney did to convince every minor-league hockey team to do a Star Wars-branded night, but it seems there have been dozens of teams at every minor-pro level doing a Star Wars night. Most of the themed jerseys are pretty "meh" in their efforts, but the AHL's San Antonio Rampage might be the leader when it comes to the best theme jersey right now. Granted, there are probably about fifty more Star Wars-themed games on the docket before all is said and done, but we have an early leader when it comes to making the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs!

Yes, I know a parsec is a unit of distance. You don't need to remind me.

Regardless of how it's measured, one can certainly see that the Rampage did their homework when it came to the jerseys they donned this evening as they hosted the "Galatic Empire Bakersfield Condors".
Dramatic music aside, those look pretty awesome in their representation of the Rebel pilots. While they won't have X-Wings on the ice, the Rampage will certainly look like their storming the Death Star in their solid representation of the Rebel fighters!

As you can see, the Rampage have recreated the jumpsuits that the Rebel pilots wore with all the details including the chest electronics and the chest protector the pilots wore. The added details of the Rebel Alliance logo on the shoulders and the off-center Rampage logo to allow the chest electronics to take center-stage are nice touches. As I stated above, San Antonio is out in front when it comes to having the best Star Wars-themed jerseys with everything they've done.

You might be asking who designed the jerseys for the Rampage. Well, that can be answered.
Well done, Aaron! Your design is, by far, the best I've seen of any Star Wars jerseys to date. While I can't bestow any awards or anything upon you for this great design, knowing that HBIC considers your design the best to date is usually a nice honour to hear.

If you're going to do a theme night with a special jersey, it's better to go all-out and make it great rather than holding back and being subtle. Aaron and the San Antonio Rampage did it right on this night. So how did they look on the ice?
Pretty darn good, right? Rocco Grimaldi recorded the first hat trick of his career in helping the San Antonio Rebel Rampage down the Bakersfield Condors in a 5-2 victory. They say that when you look good, you play good. The Rampage are certainly proving that mantra to be true!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
