The Hockey Show - Episode 476

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with a rather serious conversation based on what has emerged from the NHL over the last week. The Kyle Beach sexual assault complaint against the Chicago Blackhawks is, as you'll hear tonight, just the tip of the iceberg. For everyone talking about how this is an "isolated incident", you'll find out that this isn't so isolated when it comes to sexual assault, hazing, and racism in hockey, and this hockey culture is under the microscope tonight on The Hockey Show.

I'll say this upfront: this is a serious topic with words and descriptions that may not be suitable for younger listeners, so listener discretion is advised for this show.

Teebz and Jason Pchajek have a serious discussion about the abuses seen and, in some cases, ignored in hockey that have found their ways into the game. Incidents discussed tonight involve sexual assault, hazing, and racism, and the two hosts look at the "win at all costs" mentality that often covers up some of these incidents, the power structure that silences these complaints, and the very few options that victims have when it comes to reporting abuses. They talk about how to change the culture through a discussion that involves accountability, independent investigation, and where to start if hockey culture is going to change.
