The Hockey Show - Episode 537

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back in 2023 with a new-ish banner, a new addition to the banner, and a fun show to kick off the new calendar year! First off, the banner above is in place because The Hockey Show is doing a very Ukrainian-based show with it being Ukrainian Christmas on Saturday, Jason being of Ukrainian heritage, and having the Ukraine U25 National Men's Team visiting the city this weekend for the final stop on the Hockey Can't Stop Tour! With all of those being good reason, a proper banner was needed that now features Jason's name as the host as well! Admittedly, that should have happened sooner, but better late than never, right? And finally, we're giving away some stuff today. You're going to want to listen tonight for a fun show!

Get your thinking caps on and set to "Ukraine" because Teebz and Jason are giving away tickets to the January 9 game between the University of Manitoba's men's hockey team and Team Ukraine as part of the Hockey Can't Stop Tour! To win these tickets, we're doing some Ukrainian hockey trivia tonight, so start hitting the interwebs to gain as much knowledge as you can if you want to see this game for free courtesy of True North Sports and Entertainment, who provided the tickets, and The Hockey Show on UMFM! Beyond that, it's a show full of information about the Hockey Can't Stop Tour and the three stops already made in Sasaktoon, Calgary, and Edmonton, so we'll get you up to date on how things are going for Team Ukraine against the Canada West teams! We'll also talk about hockey in Ukraine and some of the struggles the country is facing, some of the great Ukrainian players who have played in the NHL, and throw a few other facts out into Radioland. The first episode of 2023 is dedicated entirely to our Ukrainian guests as we get you set for the final stop on the Hockey Can't Stop Tour, so make sure you're tuned into The Hockey Show at 5:30pm CT on one of 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!

If you live outside Winnipeg and want to listen, we have options! The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
