The Hockey Show - Episode 577

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back after an outstanding show last week with Claire Buchanan of the Canada National Women's Para Hockey Team. Having guests like Claire are why we love doing this show as we feel honoured to introduce you to people whose lives and stories fascinate us, so we, in turn, believe you'll find them just as incredible. There's no guest this week, unfortunately, but we do have some stories that may bewilder, surprise, and fascinate you as our hosts take you through another crazy couple of weeks in hockey!

It's hard to imagine that something like Pride Tape would melt social media this week, but it seems the NHL's decision to not be controversial is entirely controversial after they sent a memo to all 32 NHL teams informing them that alteration to on-ice uniforms and equipment will not be permitted as per their theme night policies. The backlash that followed was rather incredible, and Teebz and Jason will look at why this might be the most boneheaded thing the NHL has ever done. Beyond that, our hosts take a rip at Calgary for paying for a new arena for the Calgary Flames, they chat about Houston being NHL-ready, they'll discuss Barry Melrose opting for retirement as he faces a new challenge, and they'll break down the results for the Canadian NHL teams after all of them have played a game while lamenting another later start to an already-too-long NHL season.
