The Hockey Show - Episode 369

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with our show that will set you up for our annual week of festivities known as PLEDGE-O-RAMA! That starts tomorrow evening, I'll get you up to speed on all the incentives, why we're doing this, what The Hockey Show has planned for our show, and how you can help. If you're a fan of the show, I'm not asking you to sign over your first-born child or commit to a mortgage in terms of giving, but if you could spare a few bucks for the station, we would not be able to say "thank you" enough for the help. We'll try, but we'll always need to say "thank you" just one more time.

Pledge-O-Rama happens every year in October at UMFM where we seek some additional funding to help us with a major capital project. We've redesigned the website, upgraded our 19th-century transmitter to a 21st-century transmitter, and now we're asking for a few bucks in order to upgrade our aging antenna located in downtown Winnipeg. This is what allows our mellow sounds and great chatter to be picked up by local stereos, car radios, and more in and around the Winnipeg area. It's a big ask - $36,000 - but we broke that mark last year with your support and we're hoping to do it again with your help!

As an incentive to donate, UMFM has come up with a list of, well, incentives to give to you as a "thank you" for you generous support. Personally, as a hockey guy I have very little use for stickers, buttons, and/or guitar picks, but I can always use a magnet, the travel mugs are fantastic for doing a little weekend warrior-ing, the t-shirt is always a smart pick-up, and that new UMFM coffee is dynamite both in taste and in caffeination! On top of all the incentives, you'll also be entered into secondary draws for all sorts of good things if you pledge a larger amount. Choose your incentive level that will get you what you need, and enjoy these great wares from UMFM as our way of thanking you for your incredible support!

If that's not enough, you already know that The Hockey Show is on Thursdays, and Thursday, October 24 has been branded as "Guaranteed Ticket Thursday" all day at the station! What does that mean for you? On top of all the incentives and secondary draws listed above, The Hockey Show will also be giving away two sets of two tickets to the upcoming recording of TSN's Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole as they land at the Garrick Theatre for the Winnipeg stop on the Jay & Dan Podcast Tour on November 2, 2019! Those tickets will be up for grabs for any donation above the $75 mark that goes towards The Hockey Show, so your pledge to our humble show gets you UMFM gear, entry into the secondary draws, and entry into winning these tickets as well! Holy cow!
