Technical Difficulties

With the UMFM offices and radio studios being closed for safety reasons while asbestos abatement is being done, it seemed like it was only a matter of time until things started going wrong. Our online stream went down for a few days after one of the server didn't boot properly following an update, and things couldn't be restored until someone could get permission to be in the building with the proper protective equipment to ensure no one was breathing in the potential asbestos fibres. GM Jared got everything back up and running, thankfully, as he was granted that permission, but we ran into another glitch yesterday that you probably discovered if you tried to listen to The Hockey Show. Nothing ever runs perfectly, right?

If you settled in at 5:30 to hear Jason and I debate some of the latest hockey topics from the last week, you were likely greeted with music. Understandably, UMFM is a radio station so the music shouldn't have been a shock, but it certainly featured neither myself nor Jason. After reaching out to GM Jared, we found out that clock on the server where the day's playlist of recorded shows were loaded had lost its way, playing a different show at our show time that certainly should have been heard earlier in the day.

C'est la vie when operating remotely as things sometimes don't go as planned, but Jason and I did have a show that was an hour in length. If you are a fan and want to listen to the show, it's posted below and follows yesterday's show preview. If you tuned in later than the start, the clock issue was resolved mid-show and UMFM actually joined the show in progress, meaning you weren't aware you missed anything. If that's the case, you can hear the start of the show below as well!

If you want to listen, you have two options as always:
Of course, HBIC's show archive has the file as well in case you're reading this on a device where streaming nor downloading is a good option, so feel free to take advantage of any of these options. If you didn't know there's an archive, feel free to click through there and check out some older shows as well. There are lots of fun interviews with some amazing people and crazy shows where we tackle all sorts of hockey topics, so give it a look if you're interested!

Assuming everything goes as planned, we'll be back on the air at our normal show time of 5:30pm CT on Thursday, so check back next week for more hockey news and chatter! If something weird happens on the radio, though, you can always find the latest episode of The Hockey Show here on HBIC. Thanks for listening, and, if you're a first-time listener, welcome to the show!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
