The Bieksa-Murphy Relationship

Kevin Bieksa is a bit of a prankster. He seems to enjoy having a little fun when it comes to his job, and he involves others who may or may not be aware of his prankster ways. One such target is Sportsnet's Dan Murphy who has developed a relationship with Bieksa based upon Bieksa being the prankster and Murphy being the straight man in this comedy duo. Bieksa has since moved on from Vancouver to Anaheim, but that hasn't stopped him from finding his favorite target with his pranks as witnessed this weekend.

As Murphy was filing his report from Anaheim, his old pal Bieksa spotted him and decided to have a little fun with Murphy once more.
What you may not realize, though, is that there is a long history between these two. As you can see on the smile that forms on Murphy's face after getting bumped by Bieksa, he knows that Kevin is just being Kevin once again.

Here's Kevin providing Dan with some cushioning in his report.

Here's Kevin "standing" behind Dan during a spot.

Here's Kevin really sticking it to Dan during a report.

And while the video may be gone, the legend of Bieksa is not. According to several sources,
Kevin Bieksa won’t back down from anything, not even a dare to work the term "milk hotdog" into a pre-game Sportsnet interview with Dan Murphy. In discussing the rivalry with the San Jose Sharks, Bieksa said, "They've got a couple milk hotdogs on their team." Bieksa wins $300, put up by his teammates, for pulling through with the sour insult.
Perhaps the best part of that interview? The face he made after dropping the "milk hotdog" line.
How classic is that?!?

Kevin Bieksa and Dan Murphy make for one heckuva TV team, and I'm pretty certain that when Bieksa finally decides it might be time to hang up the skates, there will be TV jobs available to him from almost any network.

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
