The Final Day

The HBIC Music Festival comes to a close today on this third day of looking at musicians wearing or holding hockey jerseys, and it's a day where every other league outside of the NHL gets to shine. Honestly, if I were a touring musician, I'd want more of these lesser-known teams in my closet because that's the sign of a true hockey fan. In saying that, though, these musicians seen today are doing their part in supporting the lesser-seen teams! Of course, if you know of a band or artist I've missed, please send the image(s) through to me via email! Don't forget to check out all the jerseys over at the HBIC Musicians in Jerseys database, but let's get into the final day of music fun at this summer's HBIC Music Festival!

We'll start on the international stage where we find two Canadian artists sporting the maple leaf! Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau looks like he's ready to take the ice in his Team Canada jersey, and Our Lady Peace's Raine Maida shows his support for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off! Hands up for those good ol' Canadian boys!

We move to the EIHL who has a couple of acts at the festival. The Sheffield Steelers gifted Def Leppard with personalized jerseys for each band member while Rod Stewart shows his support for the Coventry Blaze! For those that are unaware, Liam Stewart, Rod's son from his marriage with model Rachel Hunter, played as a forward for the Blaze in the 2016-17 season and has represented Great Britain internationally! In that 2017 season with Coventry, Liam scored nine goals and 20 points in 49 games before moving to Guildford in 2018!

We'll move to the AHL who sent two musicians to the festival as well. Rapper Trippie Redd might be the only musician I've seen in a Bridgeport Islanders jersey while Dan Campbell of rock band The Wonder Years shows off another AHL team who no longer exists in his Philadelphia Phantoms jersey! Two former teams for one league!

We'll get to see the PWHL debut their first acts at the HBIC Music Festival as well this year! PVRIS vocalist Lynn Gunn took the stage in a Boston Fleet jersey, guitarist and keyboardist Leandra Earl of Beaches was spotted in a PWHL Toronto jersey from the Sceptres' first season, and Jonathan Cain of Journey took the stage and played the keyboard in an Emma Greco Vancouver Goldeneyes jersey!

Of course, there were some musicians sporting jerseys from CHL and USHL teams this year. Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau was on the ice in an autographed Quebec Remparts jersey while also sporting a black Quebec Remparts jersey, Shockwire wore a Peterborough Petes jersey in a video, Cape Breton's own Sunsetto took the stage in a Cape Breton Screaming Eagles jersey, Mitchell Tenpenny took the stage in a Calgary Hitmen jersey, Bailey Zimmerman was on stage in a Sioux Falls Stampede jersey, and, in one of the most awesome photos ever, Jon Bon Jovi showed his support for the Sudbury Wolves by wearing one of their jerseys! How awesome is that last image?

We have a strange jersey that was seen at the festival as guitarist Greg Leskiw of The Guess Who was on stage beside Burton Cummings in what looks like a WHA Winnipeg Jets jersey, but the WHA Jets never wore that design! Further to this, the Johnstown Jets never wore a diagonal "Jets" sweater either. I have no idea whose jersey it is, but he's wearing #25 on the back as well. We have a couple of SPHL jerseys making appearances at the HBIC Music Festival this year! Journey's Jonathan Cain sported an Evansville Thunderbolts jersey on stage as he played guitar, and Bailey Zimmerman was on stage in a Huntsville Havoc "Retro Rush" jersey! That Huntsville specialty jersey is awesome!

The ECHL had one act on the HBIC Music Festival stage as Journey's Jonathan Cain was on stage wearing a Worcester Railers jersey!

The BCHL makes a rare appearance on the HBIC Music Festival stage, but Shockwire was wearing a Chilliwack Chiefs jersey in a video!

And the final act for the HBIC Music Festival takes us to the NCAA world where Jonathan Cain of Journey was on stage in a University of South Carolina Gamecocks jersey! For those unaware, the Gamecocks are the defending AAU College Hockey Division 1 Champions after being ranked fourth in the nation last season! Winning the national championship and having Journey on your side? That's a great season!

That officially clears out the folder on my desktop of all the musicians in jerseys! I'll start looking for and collecting new images once again, but that's a big job off the checklist. The Middle Day

After a solid first day in the books headlined by 25 different images of bands and musicians wearing Edmonton Oilers jerseys, we're back for the second day of the HBIC Music Festival! We're not going to waste much time with the chatter here, so if you know of a band or artist I've missed, please send the image(s) through to me via email! We'll tackle the back half alphabetically of the NHL, so let's get rocking and rolling on Day Two of the HBIC Music Festival!

The Minnesota North Stars are back with an artist who made a previous appearance! Andy Gibb, brother of the Gibb brothers comprising the Bee Gees, makes his second appearance on the list in a variation of a North Stars sweater! There's nothing wrong with more North Stars at any event and that includes the HBIC Music Festival!

The other Minnesota team is also on the set list this year as country star Keith Urban makes an appearance in a white Wild jersey!

The festival's second day is headlined by the Montreal Canadiens as the bleu-blanc-et-rouge saw a number of artists wear those colours! Charlotte Cardin on the left and Patrick Watson on the right attended a Montreal Canadiens playoff game, Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau snapped a picture with Guy Lafleur and was on the ice in a practice jersey, Queensryche's Joe Elliott was rocking in a Habs jersey, Nelly went sleeveless in his Canadiens jersey, Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons wore a Canadiens jersey on stage, Canadian James LaBrie showed his support of Les Canadiens while touring with American band Dream Theater, Gail Greenwood of both L7 and Belly wore a Canadiens jersey on stage, and David Lee Roth was on stage in a Habs jersey! Hockey's oldest team has quite the musical following!

The Nashville Predators have three acts who hit the stage at the HBIC Music Festival! Maddox Batson was in the crowd wearing a Roman Josi jersey, Carrie Underwood is back on the list with a new Predators jersey, and Bailey Zimmerman wore a Predators jersey on stage!

The New Jersey Devils came to town with a solid roster of musicians who are sporting their colours. Cardi B got her own personalized, bedazzled Devils jersey, we can finally add Taylor Swift to the Devils' roster, Brandy got herself a personalized "Jersey" jersey, Burna Boy wore a white Devils jersey on stage, and rapper Lil Yachty also wore a white Devils jersey on stage! Are the Devils becoming popular?

The New York Islanders had one act for the festival this year as the Beach Boys' keyboardist Bruce Johnson wore his Islanders jersey on stage! There's zero wrong with a classic Islanders jersey!

The Philadelphia Flyers boasted four acts at the festival this year. Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau was on stage in his Flyers jersey, rapper Lil Peep got his own personalized jersey, Jon Bon Jovi got himself a Flyers jersey, and Canadian rock musician John Whitten, better known as Shockwire, was also rocking a Flyers jersey!

The Pittsburgh Penguins sent two very different acts to the HBIC Music Festival, but both have solid followings. Who else can boast Yanni as a fan as he wore a Penguins jersey? And who else can say that 5 Seconds of Summer are fans as they received Penguins jerseys?

The San Jose Sharks saw Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan play in a charity game wearing their jersey! How cool is that?

The Seattle Kraken are being booed off the stage for their disrespect towards a band. I don't know what they were thinking, but if Three Days Grace is in town to play a concert and all they get is t-shirts when they attend a game, something's not right there. Seattle won't have Three Days Grace on their list of musical acts who support them because they deserve better than generic t-shirts! C'mon, Kraken!

The Tampa Bay Lightning have one singer in their corner at the festival as K-Pop star Jin from BTS was on stage in a Lightning jersey!

The Toronto Maple Leafs always seem to have big names in their corner as Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau and David Desrosiers got themselves Maple Leafs jerseys, Triumph's Rik Emmett and Gil Moore got themselves Maple Leafs jerseys, David Lee Roth wore a Maple Leafs jersey, and Post Malone wore a Maple Leafs jersey on stage!

For the very first time, we have a Utah Mammoth musical act! NBA YoungBoy is the first musical act to wear a Utah Mammoth jersey that I could find, and he'll lead the way under their section in the HBIC Musicians in Jerseys database! Who will be the next Mammoth act?

The Vancouver Canucks come to town with a solid lineup of musical acts as Michael Buble donned a vintage Canucks jersey, Mike Reno of Loverboy also wore a vintage Canucks jersey on stage, and Shockwire returns again in a Canucks jersey! How about those vintage threads?

If one team sees a pile of musical acts come through town, it's the Vegas Golden Knights and they're well-represented at the HBIC Music Festival. Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau wore the 2022-23 Reverse Retro jersey and wore the gold Golden Knights jersey, three members - Nick Carter, AJ McLean, and Howie Dorough - of the Backstreet Boys received Golden Knights jerseys, Wayne Newton got his gold Golden Knights jersey, and Flavor Flav sat rinkside in his gold Golden Knights jersey while Jon Bon Jovi showed off his personalized gold jersey!

The Washington Capitals have one act to boast at the HBIC Music Festival, but he's a big star as Ozzy Osbourne wore a Capitals jersey!

The Winnipeg Jets are also represented by one artist at the festival, and it's Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau wearing the Jets' Heritage jersey! Clearly, Comeau has good taste in jerseys with that one!

That will wrap up all the NHL teams who had musicians in jerseys, but we're far from done as there are a pile of international, minor-professional, and junior hockey jerseys still be seen on musicians. We even have our first PWHL jerseys worn in concert to be seen, so I'll get all those posted as the HBIC Music Festival comes to a close tomorrow. The Opening Day

Having been to a handful of music festivals in my time, I can honestly say that one stumbles across a great opening band only once in a while. It's not that these bands can't play or don't know how to write music, but it's just that they usually haven't found that sound that makes the crowd sit up and take notice of what they're doing. The first day of the HBIC Music Festival has none of that as there are well-known artists that will appear below for nearly every team. Again, not every team will be represented, but that's ok too. If you know of a band or artist I've missed, please send the image(s) through to me via email!

I'll step aside here, though, as we kick things off with our first teams!

The Anaheim Ducks have three new entries as their musically-talented guests include The Offspring in orange and in white, Thrice with their second appearance in white and orange, and Green Day's Tre Cool was able to score himself both an orange jersey and a white jersey as the Ducks brought an all-rock lineup this year!

The Boston Bruins always seem to have big artists pass through their arena, and this year was no different. Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan makes his first appearance, Eric Church got himself a jersey in Boston, and the Guess Who's Burton Cummings wore a Bobby Orr jersey in a March 2, 1973 concert! Jackie Miclau of rock band Mt. Joy got herself a personalized Bruins jersey, new lead singer Emily Armstrong of Linkin Park sported a Bruins jersey during their concert, and Lionel Richie got himself a personalized Bruins jersey as well!

The Buffalo Sabres brought a strong group of artists with them to the HBIC Music Festival as country crooner Cody Johnson got a personalized Sabres jersey, all of Disturbed got personalized jerseys, Eric Church got a personalized black Sabres jersey, bassist Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls got a personalized black Sabres jerseys, and country singer MaRynn Taylor got herself a blue Sabres jersey and a black Sabres jersey too! Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox wore a Sabres jersey on stage, and hip hop artist West Side Gunn wore a white 1999 Buffalo Sabres jersey with scorpions embroidered on it!

The Calgary Flames have music from a number of genres on their set list. The Arkells got to share one jersey, Bailey Zimmerman wore a Flames jersey on stage, the Beach Boys got Flames jerseys for each band member, Ja Rule took the stage in a Flames alternate jersey, Mt. Joy received Calgary Flames jerseys much to the delight of Jackie Miclau, Nelly made a statement with his sleeveless Flames jersey, Our Lady Peace received personalized jerseys, and former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan posted this image of Ozzy Osbourne receiving a personalized Flames jersey! How awesome is that photo?

The defending Stanley Cup champions have five artists on their stage as the Carolina Hurricanes gave rapper Rod Wave his own personalized jersey, NBA YoungBoy modified his Hurricanes jersey into a short-sleeved version, Journey's Jonathan Cain wore a Hurricanes jersey on stage, Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox wore his Hurricanes jersey on stage, and Darius Rucker, formerly of Hootie and the Blowfish, fired the crowd up in Raleigh by sounding the siren last year!

The Chicago Blackhawks showed up to the festival with a handful of artists representing them as Benson Boone met the Folignos and got a jersey, K-Pop boy band P1Harmony received Blackhawks jerseys when they attended a game, Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau wore a Connor Bedard jersey on stage, Carlos Santana appears to be a Blackhawks fan, and, in one of the coolest musical moments, Italian conductor Riccardo Muti conducted the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a Blackhawks jersey! I believe he's the first conductor on the list!

The Colorado Avalanche only have one musical act to boast at the HBIC Music Festival, and that act is none other than Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan who is wearing the Avalanche alternate jersey!

The Dallas Stars took the same approach with just one act to boast at the HBIC Music Festival, but Post Malone seems pretty pumped about his personalized Stars jersey! For those wondering, Post Malone has ties to the #77 as his 2016 debut album, Stoney, spent 77 weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart!

The Detroit Red Wings have two acts at the festival with Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan wearing a Red Wings jersey on stage, and long-time rocker Gail Greenwood of L7 and Belly wore a Red Wings jersey as well! We'll see both of these artists with another team too!

The Edmonton Oilers, by sheer volume, are your headliners at the HBIC Music Festival. Creed received personalized blue Oilers jerseys, Darius Rucker got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, Finger Eleven received personalized blue Oilers jerseys, the Headstones received personalized blue Oilers jerseys, Dylan Marlowe got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, Mother Mother received personalized blue Oilers jerseys, Warren Zeiders got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, Sarah McLachlan got herself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, half of Nate Ratlieff and the Night Sweats received personalized blue Oilers jerseys in one photo with the other half of the band getting them in a second photo, Papa Roach received personalized blue Oilers jerseys, Dasha got herself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, Hardy got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, Josh Ross got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey, and Kane Brown got himself a personalized blue Oilers jersey! But we're not even close to being done with the Oilers just yet!

Alex Howard of Jelly Roll's band wore an Oilers jersey on stage, Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan wore an Oilers alternate jersey, Todd Kerns of Triumph wore an Oilers jersey, Sum 41 got jerseys with the band name on the back, Bailey Zimmerman wore a blue Oilers jersey on stage and a white Oilers jersey on stage, Chelsea "Peaches" West of Jelly Roll's band wore an Oilers jersey on stage, Meghan Patrick wore an Oilers jersey on stage, Scott McCreery received a personalized white Oilers jersey, and Nelly received a personalized white Oilers jersey. I'm pretty sure half the music world has an Oilers jersey now!

The Florida Panthers brought their musical influences to the festival as they gave Ariana Grande a new Panthers jersey, Frankie Grande wore a Panthers jersey, Anthony Criss - better known as Treach from Naughty by Nature - performed in a Panthers jersey, Joe Jonas received a personalized Panthers jersey, and Mexican singer-songwriter Carín León received a jersey with his album's name on it!

The Hartford Whalers were well-represented by Noah Kahan who appeared on stage wearing a Whalers jersey. You can't go wrong with that jersey! And no, the Hurricanes don't get credit for it either.

The last team on the opening day of the HBIC Music Festival are the Los Angeles Kings, and they're represented by Simple Plan's Chuck Comeau and son, London! Comeau's wife, Jacquelin Napal, gets a nod for the Team Canada jersey she's wearing, but she won't appear on her own on this blog as she's not a musician. It's still awesome to see the whole Comeau family dressed up in one theme for Halloween!

There are the first sixteen NHL teams covered in terms of which bands and musicians wore those teams' colours and logos. Honestly, I love seeing these images simply because it's cool knowing all of these people are fans in some way of the same teams we like. Tomorrow, we'll finish off the NHL teams before moving into Wednesday with all the non-NHL jerseys. It should be a fun couple of days, so make sure you come back tomorrow and Wednesday for musicians in jerseys!

HBIC Music Festival

With it being relatively slower in the hockey world at this moment, I have started to purge my laptop of things that I've simply held onto for far too long. One of those includes the idea to the left as I have, as of last count, 130 new images of musicians either holding or wearing some sort of hockey jersey in a folder on my desktop. Clearly, this is just eating up space that could be used for something else, and when is there a better time for a music festival than in the middle of summer? With a little creativity, I came up with a simple poster that will highlight the three-day event that will run on Monday through Wednesday with the intent of removing these images from my desktop. Be ready to see a number of popular bands and musicians in hockey jerseys that may surprise or thrill you, but the Musicians in Jerseys database will grow this week by 130 images!

You might be thinking, "How much time do you waste looking for these pictures, Teebz?" and I can tell you that I happen to stumble on a lot of them thanks to social media. Both teams and artists will post these pictures, and those images lead me down rabbit holes of Instagram and Facebook looking for other images of artists in jerseys. Honestly, I spend no more than ten minutes down these rabbit holes, but I usually find more images that are added to the file.

If you looked at the poster above, you'll see artists like Post Malone, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Brandy who have very few, if any, images in the database. Of course, there are returning artists like Eric Church, Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan, and Journey's Jonathan Cain who will make a handful of appearances as we work through the teams, and it's crazy to think that musicians and bands are getting these jerseys for free just for showing up and playing music. That's the life!

I don't know if every NHL team is represented in the 130 images, but I do know there are a lot. That means lots of additions to the Musicians in Jerseys database, so make sure you get over there and check out all the bands and musicians who have appeared in your team's favorite jersey. Chuck Comeau may be giving Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber a run for their money when it comes to total appearances in the image database, but that's why this is fun!

Summer Concert Nights - Part Two

We're back for the second day of the concert series featuring musicians in jerseys after seeing Tate McRae, Max Kerman of the Arkells, and Noah Kahan headline the images yesterday. I've always wondered if these musicians put their jerseys into storage somewhere for a future charity auction or potentially as something to sell to fans when their careers slow down, but no musicians have ever come forward to comment on that. I'm still holding out hope that Taylor Swift will want to talk hockey jerseys on The Hockey Show at some point, but I feel like this topic isn't high on her list of interview subjects. In any case, here are the next musicians, and the full list of musicians in jerseys can be seen here!

We'll start with a Canadian-fronted band as we have to go back a few years, but Neil Young and Crazy Horse have been making music since 1968 when they first got together. Neil Young has been on the full list a few times, but we can add Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot to the list as he played a gig in a Minnesota North Stars jersey! After suffering a stroke in 2014, the good news is that Talbot is back to his rocking ways with Crazy Horse once more.

Breaking Benjamin has been producing rock songs since 1999 when the formed in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but they've gone through a pile of changes when it comes to band members over the years. Since 2014, guitarists Jasen Rauch and Keith Wallen have been part of the band's lineup, and they were in Nashville to catch a Predators game where they received their own personalized jerseys! Another person who got a personalized jersey from the Predators? That would be Lauren Alaina who was the runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol! The 30 year-old singer-songwriter also appeared on Dancing with the Stars where she finished in fourth-place, and is the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry! American country band Shenandoah also got to sing the anthem at a game, but they've been making music since 1984!

Shinedown isn't a Pittsburgh-based band as they were formed in Jacksonville, Florida, but Shinedown front man Brent Smith got a Penguins jersey when the band came to town! In February 2024, Smith announced that the band was working on its eighth studio album, so we could more Shinedown on these lists in the future if they do a tour to promote this new album. Joining Smith on the Penguins' musician fans list is *NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick who is a self-professed Penguins fan after growing up near the city. I'm surprised we haven't seen him in a Predators jersey considering he lives there.

The defending champs have a few musical fans this time. The Florida Panthers welcomed pop and country artist Cassadee Pope to their arena as the 35 year-old was the first female winner of The Voice in 2012. Older music fans will know our next artists's mom from her work with the Miami Sound Machine, but Gloria Estefan's daughter, Emily Estefan, produced and released her own album entitled "Take Whatever You Want" in 2017! Pop singer-songwriter Gina Miles also is a Panthers fan after showing her talents by winning Season 23 of The Voice, and VËR - short for "Vered" meaning "Rose" in Hebrew - is a Montreal-born singer based in Miami where she's sang for the Panthers while entertaining folks with her sultry, intimate jazz-inspired renditions of classic songs. The Panthers were singing "This Is How We Do It" after winning the Stanley Cup last season, and they had Montell Jordan in their colours earlier in the season!

The New Jersey Devils are back in the music game as Gina Teschke sang the anthem for the Devils while establishing her music theatre and acting career. 1990s adolescent rap duo Kriss Kross, fronted by Chris Kelly and Chris Smith, were also known to rock the Devils' colours in their time among the various jersey they wore.

Darren "Buff Love" Robinson was part of the rap group known as "The Fat Boys" before his passing in 1995, but he was one of the early adopters of hockey jerseys as part of the rap culture, seen here sporting the Edmonton Oilers logo! Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace also came through Edmonton, and they received their own personalized jerseys. Singer Raine Maida needs to turn his around!

Glass Animals' frontman Dave Bayley was caught giving the thumbs-up in his Detroit Red Wings 2014 Winter Classic jersey. OneRepublic drummer Eddie Fisher was supporting the Detroit Red Wings at Bud Light NHL All Star Concert at The Tabernacle on January 24, 2008 in Atlanta during their performance! Good ol' Thrashers days!

Deadmau5 is a Canadian artist, and he was invited to the Air Canada Centre in 2016 where he took part in the opening ceremony for the Toronto Maple Leafs 100th season! Dinah Jane is probably better known as a member of the popular girl group, Fifth Harmony, but she was invited to sing the anthems in Toronto before the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills competition! Canadian Juno award-winning rapper Haviah Mighty performed during a November 2024 game at the Scotiabank Arena. James Hetfield of Metallica was gifted a Wendel Clark jersey by Wendel Clark himself! Toronto can also add Sabrina Carpenter to their list of fans after she sported the jersey while in the city!

I know nothing about her music, but Emei is an alternative/indie pop artist who apparently appreciates the Tampa Bay Lightning! She competed on Chinese Idol where she placed third, Dancing with the Stars in China, and was a member of the a cappella group Mixed Company while attending Yale! SHe released third album, "RABBITHOLE", in November 2024. English pop band The 1975 have been making music since 2002, and they got the jersey treatment when they stopped at Amalie Arena. How cool is it that they used the same number font for The 1975 name on the back? Well done, Lightning, but only one jersey for four guys? What the heck?

Another artists with whose wore I'm not familiar is Josh Waters, but the young man is a St. Louis Blues fan! He has worn other sports' colours, but his chosen hockey team comes from Missouri! One artist who grew up with the Blues is SZA, and she sported a Brett Hull Blues jersey in Drake's "Rich Baby Daddy" music video.

Kevin Oliver is a "skilled vocalist as well as the consummate guitar player and session musician" who has worked with a number of bands, artists, and companies on projects and commercials, and he lent his talents to the Pre-Game Party at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio where he sported a Blue Jackets jersey!

I know nothing of his music or his scene, but King Boss LA is an Anaheim Ducks fan based on his jersey choice!

Linkin park has recently started making new music and touring again after adding Emily Armstrong as a vocalist, and they were in Raleigh where they got Carolina Hurricanes jerseys for their appearance! Carolina also likes to invite celebrities to ring their storm alarm, and American country singer Scott McCreery was one of the celebrities they invited! I expect more musicians in the future.

Canadian country singer Madeline Merlo met with her fans while in Nashville where she sported her Vancouver Canucks jersey! Considering she's from Maple Ridge, BC, she was supporting her hometown team! Sideone, a Canadian band that prides themselves on being a cover band, was invited to perform at the 2014 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic where they sported the throwback Vancouver jerseys! Check out their awesome YouTube video that explains who they are and what they do. I can see why they're successful!

Germany has produced a number of well-known artists in their time, and Sarah Connor is a pop singer who has been on the radio and on stages in Germany since 2000. The fun part? She appeared on a German game show called "Who steals my show?", according to Reddit. Redditor Grizzly-Berry posted a shot of Connor on the show wearing a Boston Bruins Pastrnak jersey! Speaking of international additions, Chinese singer and actress Juke Junyi was at the 2018 NHL game held in China between Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames where she wore Bruins colours. The 37 year-old was the third-place finisher on the very first edition of The Voice in China!

I feel like this is almost blasphemy, but it might fit the 1970s rock scene of rebellion. Triumph's Rik Emmett is boldly wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey shirt despite him being born in Toronto. Mike Levine, guitarist for Triumph, has been pictured in both Calgary and Toronto jerseys, so maybe that balances it out?

Australian singer, songwriter, and rapper The Kid Laroi was on tour with Tate McRae at points, and their paths crossed in Washington where he got his own personalized Capitals jersey. He also picked up a Panthers jersey when he performed in Sunrise prior to Game One of last year's Stanley Cup Final, but his jersey collection is significantly smaller than his on-again/off-again partner Tate McRae's collection.

Speaking of McRae, let's add another one to her collection as she was a celebrity captain for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. That game saw her, Michael Bublé, Chxrry22, the aforementioned The Kid Laroi, Owen Riegling, Loud Luxury, and Justin Bieber all get NHL All-Star jerseys. Garth Brooks was on-hand for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game where he got a jersey as well.

Before we end this look at a pile of musicians with new threads, we need to stop in the international jersey department. I mentioned Raine Maida above, but his wife was invited to sing at the Four Nations Face-Off as Chantal Kreviazuk wore her Canadian jersey. Sofia Camara is a 23 year-old pop star born in Portugal, but who has lived nearly her whole life in Toronto. She's sang anthems, she's signed by Universal Music, and she wore a Team Canada jersey in a publicity photo as her version of of Nickelback's "What Are You Waiting For?" became the official 2025 IIHF World Junior championship song! How cool is that for the young lady?

And in one of the coolest jerseys you'll see, Canadian singer Jugpreet Bajwa sang the anthems at the Vancouver Canucks game in a Team Canada Blind Hockey jersey in 2021! For those asking, Bajwa is multilingual Indo-Canadian classical, folk and rock singer who is visually-impaired, and he crushed the Canadian anthem at the game!

Summer Concert Nights - Part One

With the warmer weather upon most of us in the Great White North, there will be a rise in the number of concerts that happen outdoors at various venues across Canada. I suspect that a number of you who stop by this blog will take in a performance or two when it comes to those summer concerts, so HBIC decided to save all its best performers in hockey jerseys for this occasion! Being that I'm not a concert promoter in any way, I do appreciate those artists who celebrate hockey, and you can see the full list here of artists who have been found or submitted to me. Let's check out which artists are being added this time!

We'll start with a Canadian band who has appeared before, but lead singer Max Kerman of the Arkells went all out on Tiktok when he announced the stops for the 2024 Big Feelings Tour across Canada. Because YouTube sucks, I had to kill the song on that video, but Kerman went all out in announcing stops with hockey jerseys! In his video, he appeared in a Calgary Flames jersey, an Edmonton Oilers jersey, a Halifax Mooseheads jersey, a Kelowna Rockets jersey, a Kitchener Rangers jersey, a London Knights jersey, an Ottawa Senators jersey, a Saskatoon Blades jersey, a Vancouver Canucks jersey, and a Victoria Royals jersey! I'm sure he could have worn more, but that's a pretty good haul for the Arkells' lead singer!

Speaking of Canada, let's stick with Canadian artists as Tate McRae likely has a closet full of jerseys as well. I'm not even going to ask how she has this many, but let's run through these: a Boston Bruins jersey, both an older red Calgary Flames jersey and a black Calgary Flames jersey, a Seth Jarvis Carolina Hurricanes jersey, a Chicago Blackhawks jersey, a personalized Colorado Avalanche jersey, a Dallas Stars jersey, a Jaroslav Slafkovsky Montreal Canadiens jersey, a 2024 NHL All-Star Game jersey, a New Jersey Devils jersey, a personalized New York Islanders jersey, a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, a Seattle Kraken jersey, a personalized Tampa Bay Lightning jersey, a Vegas Golden Knights jersey, and a Washington Capitals reverse retro jersey! You wonder if she has a closet exclusively for jerseys.

We'll shift to an American singer-songwriter as Noah Kahan has shown he has a deep appreciation for hockey. He picked up a pile of jerseys on his recent tour, so let's go through his collection as we see him in a personalized Dallas Stars jersey, a Minnesota Wild jersey, a personalized Montreal Canadiens jersey, a personalized Nashville Predators jersey, a New York Rangers jersey, a Brady Tkachuk Ottawa Senators jersey, and a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. Kahan is an admitted hockey fan, so it's not surprising that he's picking up jerseys for his collection at virtually every concert tour stop.

We'll dive into the one-off jerseys now as we start with the late Aaron Carter who seemed to gravitate towards wearing jerseys as he got older. Here he is wearing a USHL Omaha Lancers jersey! I would assume he wore this in Omaha, but I couldn't find any information on when he wore it. In any case, he wore it at least once.

Jess Meuse has a black SPHL Birmingham Bulls jersey, but she also has another red Bulls jersey! The Texas native seems to be a fan of the SPHL franchise! No word on whether she owns a stake in the team.

We had a couple of Chicago Blackhawks fans add some threads to their closets. Chance the Rapper has a Blackhawks jersey, but he added a 2025 Winter Classic jersey to his collection. Some will say that Dan Aykroyd is an actor, but his musical talents allowed him and John Belushi to release a handful of albums as the Blues Brothers. That's how Dan Aykroyd gets his name on the Chicago Blackhawks' list! Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine is one of the Blackhawks' faithful as he is often seen at the United Center for games!

I'll fully admit that I've never heard Yo Yo Honey Singh's music, but it appears he's a Los Angeles Kings fan. He mostly works in the hip-hop, pop, and bhangra genres of music. His big hit was "Glassy". Joining him as a Kings fan is Suro Khetchian who the Kings invited to the Staples Center as part of their Armenian Heritage Night on February 22! Again, I am not familiar with his music, but he accepted the Kings' offer to perform that night! That's pretty cool!

Jelly Roll seems like a fun guy, and the rap star was on tour last year. On that tour, he stopped in San Jose where the Sharks gifted him a jersey. He also stopped in North Charleston, South Carolina where the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays ensured he got a jersey there! This is not a slight to Jelly Roll, but what sizes are those jerseys?

Speaking of the Stingrays, they gave out another jersey to Kelsea Ballerini when she stopped in North Charleston on her tour! Ballerini also headed north up the east coast, and she landed in Buffalo where the Sabres gave her the most bedazzled Sabres jersey I've ever seen! I'm not a fan of these bedazzled jerseys. They look sequined, and there are no sequined hockey jerseys. That's just silly.

Speaking of the Sabres, Buffalo gave a 50th anniversary jersey to Theresa Phondo. I had never heard of her, but she's a multi award-winning Afro R&B Gospel Artist from Malawi. And now she's a Buffalo Sabres fan as well! Joining her on the Sabres' list is American rapper West Side Gunn who wore the blue Sabres jersey. Beauty jersey!

Canadian singer Roberta Battaglia was a "golden buzzer" contestant on America's Got Talent, but she's been performing for a while. One of the places she showed off her vocal talents? She sang the anthems at an AHL Toronto Marlies game where she donned the Marlies' colours! The young lady is from Toronto, but is also fluent in Italian!

We'll end this first entry of the summer concerts with a look at Pearl Jam's performance in Philadephia. They dedicated their song "Given to Fly" to Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau that night, and they displayed Johnny's Gloucester Catholic High School jersey and Matthew's ECHL Reading Royals jersey during the performance. That's a pretty awesome thing for Pearl Jam to do, so I wanted to be sure to include it on this article. Well done, Pearl Jam. That's classy.

That will bring the first day of musicians in hockey jerseys to a close as there were a pile of images there. Yes, it centered mostly on two people as Max Kerman and Tate McRae boasted their incredible collections of jerseys, but we'll see more artists tomorrow when Part Two of this article is published. The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with a guest we really enjoyed speaking with during her first visit! I feel like this reaction to the left is what we get whenever we ask Mount Royal Cougars captain Lyndsey Janes if she wants to be on the show, but Teebz and Jason will sit down with Lyndsey tonight and get updates on everything that has happened over the last few months since she was part of the show on Halloween! We'll chat about the Mount Royal season and how it ended, moving on from the Cougars and what could possibly next, summer plans, concert reviews, women's hockey expansion ideas, new bling, new Marvel projects, and anything else we can fit into the hour! A Familiar Face

They say you can never go home again, but it seems Malcolm Subban will test that theory this year after signing a deal with the AHL's Belleville Senators. For four seasons, Subban skated with the OHL's Belleville Bulls from 2009-2013 before the team was bought and moved to Hamilton by current Senators owner Michael Andlauer in 2015, so his return brings back a crowd favorite to Belleville after the success he had there. The former first-round pick has bounced around hockey in the last few years, but there's hope he can stabilize Belleville's goaltending as a veteran presence with Ottawa occasionally needing some help from the kids.

After being selected 24th-overall in 2012 by the Boston Bruins, Subban played just two NHL games with Boston while spending most of his time with the Providence Bruins between 2013 and 2017. In 127 games with the P-Bruins, Subban was a respectable 56-45-15 with a 2.41 GAA and a .917 save percentage. While he was 0-2-0 with Boston, he had surrendered three goals in each of his NHL appearances up to that point while sporting a .727 save percentage. Some wondered if Subban could grab the reins assuming Boston ever turned to him to defend the net.

However, his 2017 season was played in a different environment as the Vegas Golden Knights claimed Subban off waivers from the Bruins, and immediately became the backup to Marc-Andre Fleury as the Golden Knights kicked off their inaugural season. Again, he provided capable backup goaltending when called upon, going 13-4-2 in 22 games, but it was his following seasons where things unravelled somewhat as he compiled a 17-17-5 record in 41 games while his GAA went up and his save percentage went down in both seasons.

In February 2020, Subban was traded to Chicago in a deal that saw none of the other pieces come close to skating in the NHL, and he'd see very little action with the Blackhawks or the Rockford IceHogs as COVID made things tough on everyone. From 2019-22, Subban played just 17 games with Chicago where he was 6-8-1 with a 3.20 GAA and a .900 save percentage, but his five games with Rockford were rather forgettable. As it was, Chicago traded him to the Buffalo Sabres for future considerations.

Subban would play four games for the Sabres before spending his 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with the AHL's Rochester Americans, Springfield Thunderbirds, and Cleveland Monsters. He had very similar numbers in Rochester and Springfield, but his number ballooned in Cleveland before the Columbus Blue Jackets called him up for one game where he, unsurprisingly, allowed three goals on 35 shots in what was his best NHL game to date. However, with a significant lack of NHL experience and Subban turning 31 in 2024, his options in free agency seemed limited.

On Saturday, Malcolm Subban was released from his professional tryout with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins that he had signed on October 7. Subban didn't see any regular season action with the Griffins, but he was in camp to solve some of Detroit's goaltending issues as they shuffled players between their ECHL and AHL affiliates while they figured out who belonged where to start the season. It's hard to imagine that Subban would disappear from the hockey map after this short stint, but it turns out it led to another opportunity.

The Belleville Senators announced today that they had signed Subban to a one-year AHL contract that will see him skate all season in the very city he played junior hockey. It might be a good thing he landed there early in this season because it seems the Senators are planning a Belleville Bulls Tribute Night to recognize the 25th Anniversary of the 1999 OHL Champions on December 14 against the Rochester Americans. If they go all-in on the celebraton, Subban will likely get to wear a Belleville Bulls jersey once again! That'd be pretty cool!

Of course, winning games is pretty important too, and the Senators' 3-1-0 start to the season is something upon which Subban will need to build. The Senators host the Providence Bruins on Wednesday, but it may be too early to throw Subban between the pipes at this point. What seems clear, though, is that the Ottawa Senators will have one goalie in Belleville for the entire season if things get crazy with goalie movement between the NHL club and its affiliates.

And if Subban can get his game back to his original Belleville days, there may be a shot at the NHL Senators keeping him in their organization for longer than a few games. Fans in Belleville cheered loudly for him once; it could very well happen again.

And if the goalie thing doesn't work out in his return? Maybe he can stick around as the Belleville Senators' anthem singer!

HBIC Music Festival: Day Three

With it being Labour Day today in Canada, I plan on taking it easy and doing very little. There is definitely some stuff I want to get done, but I don't want to spend all day in front of a computer screen. That being said, I will also have the latest episode of The Hockey Show posted after I took this weekend for mostly myself, so check that page from last Thursday out as Jason and I had some good discussions once again. On this day, though, we take a peek at the non-NHL jerseys worn by musicians that I found over the last few months as the make-believe HBIC Music Festival wraps up for another season!

Once more, the full list of musicians holding or wearing a hockey jersey can be found here, and the list just keeps getting more and more impressive with the additions being made. If you have photos of a musician wearing or holding a jersey, send them through to me and I'll get them posted with you getting credit! I'm always open to more submissions than less, so let's make this "Musicians in Jerseys" list as comprehensive as we can!

We'll go international first as I discovered this photo recently thanks to a user named Knipil. Gil Moore from Triumph is pictured wearing a Team Sweden jersey as Triumph played in Sweden in 2008, and Knipil used it for Gil Moore's Wikipedia page! Speaking of Canadian rock bands, I had mentioned Monster Truck in this series, and they make a return with their visit to the United Kingdom as they were given jerseys from the EIHL's Glasgow Clan and the Nottingham Panthers! Those are pretty sweet jerseys!

We move to the AHL where we get some old, some news, and four new musicians who have AHL devotion now! We'll start with Season 22's winner of American Idol in Abi Carter who was honoured at a Coachella Valley Firebirds game where she got her own jersey! Chris Stapleton toured through Winnipeg, and he got to meet Manitoba Moose defenceman Jimmy Oligny and family who presented him with his own Moose jersey! Morgan Wallen's latest tour took him to many places, and one of those places was Abbotsford, BC where the AHL Canucks gave him a jersey! Monster Truck has been touring for a while, and one of their stops took them to Hamilton, Ontario where the AHL Bulldogs outfitted them AND they met Don Cherry! Finally, we'll go back a few years for this one, but Nickelback must have played Houston, Texas at some point when the Aeros were still in town because they all got jerseys!

Canadian major junior hockey picked up some new musical fans as well. Nickelback was back on the scene in Quebec City where the QMJHL's Remparts set them up with jerseys. Heather Rankin, who is part of The Rankin Family musical group, is well-known on the east coast for her work as a musician and actress, but she donned her QMJHL Cape Breton Screaming Eagles jersey as she calls Cape Breton home!

A couple of universities had their jerseys on musicians as well. Jessica Meuse, who came in fourth-place on the 13th season of American Idol, is originally from Alabama, and she has an Alabama Crimson Tide hockey jersey! The late Toby Keith was a huge Oklahoma Sooners football fan, but he also came out to support the hockey team when he could! How cool is that?

Finally, there are a few jerseys that don't fit into the categories above, so let's take a look at who wore what team. I just mentioned that Jessica Meuse was from Alabama and likes hockey, so of course she owns an SPHL Birmingham Bulls jersey with them calling Pelham, Alabama home! We'll stay in the SPHL as country music artist Hardy toured through Huntsville, and he got himself a Havoc jersey! Joey Braxton is a country music artist who is from Florida, and he showed his devotion to the three-time ECHL champion Florida Everblades by donning their colours and writing them a hype song! Finally, you know Drake has a closet full of jerseys, but I wasn't expecting to see him in a John Purves' IHL San Francisco Spiders jersey! If I'm not mistaken, that might be a game-worn jersey too!

With the end of this weekend series of posts, that's every photo I've found, been sent, and stumbled across in the last few months where a musician is wearing or holding a hockey jersey. I'll do another one of these when I have a collection that needs to be cleared out like the one this weekend, but hoopefully that's a fun crossover of hockey and music for you to peruse.

HBIC Music Festival: Day Two

We'll continue on this Sunday of the September long weekend in looking at all the musicians who were wearing jerseys of various hockey teams once again. I always find it fascinating to see how many artists have accepted jerseys in order to pump up civic pride when they're on stage, and it amazes me that some artists have so many jerseys in their collections. What do Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and Snoop Dogg do with all their jerseys? We know Snoop Dogg wears his jerseys occasionally, but Bieber and Swift seem to put them in the back of their respective closets. Anyway, let's get into the second day of this make-believe music festival here on HBIC!

The New Jersey Devils have some younger artists wearing their gear who may appeal to a younger generation, and it seems that trend will continue as the Jonas Brothers were gifted a set of Devils jerseys while Joe Jonas was spotted wearing a Stadium Series jersey under his jacket! Drummer Max Weinberg is a longtime member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, and he was wearing the 2024 Stadium Series jersey as well! You may not know them, but The Gaslight Anthem is a rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, and they showed their devotion to the in-state NHL team as guitarist Alex Rosamilia donned the Devils' colours!

I know nothing about Detroit-born rapper WB Nutty other than his lyrics likely mean his album should have a warning label on it, but here he is in a New York Islanders jersey. Country musician Thomas Rhett seems pretty pumped to wear the Islanders' colours! I've never heard of Bobby Shmudra either, but the American rapper seems pretty excited about being at an Islanders game! I first thought Madison Beer was a social media influencer only to find out she's a platinum-selling artist, but she's also a New York Islanders fan! Maria Clifton seems to wear many hats as she's a former professional basketball player, a model, an actress, and an on-air personality, but she often spends evenings as DJ Ria where she spins records when she's not cheering on the Islanders in her jerseys!

The New York Rangers get a lot of artists wearing their gear as well as Madison Square Garden is the busiest venue in the world. Two of those people who were seen wearing NYR colours include RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and, once again, Daniel Bjornson in his jersey collage photo.

Nicholas Durocher grew up in Ottawa, Ontario where the young man honed his skills, eventually becoming the artist known as Talk. The indie rocker is a huge fan of his hometown team as he wore his Daniel Alfredsson Ottawa Senators jersey in concert, and it appears the entire Senators team signed his jersey at some point as well! How cool is that?

We have a couple of entries in San Jose where Tara Sloan is doing some fine work for the Sharks. The Joydrop frontwoman was wearing the Sharks' alternate jersey in this photo! Joining Tara is the Daniel Bjornson jersey collage!

Country music strikes again as Chris Lane played a show in St. Louis where he wore the Blues' note! American rock band OAR - standing for Of A Revolution - has played shows all over the continent, but frontman Marc Roberge took to the stage wearing the Blues' colours while in St. Louis!

Tampa Bay even gets an appearance in this post thanks to Daniel Bjornson sporting the Lightning jersey in his jersey collage photo!

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a long list of musicians who have worn their threads, and we'll get one new artist today while another opted for a variation on the jersey. American country musician Morgan Wallen went with the Maple Leafs' blue when he was in town, and Snoop Dogg went for the variation on a jersey as he donned the Bieber-designed black Leafs jersey! This may have lowered Snoop Dogg's credibility as a hockey fan (I'm kidding!).

The Vancouver Canucks get a couple of new additions to their list. Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard grew up in Waterloo, Australia before adopting the name The Kid Laroi where the rapper broke onto the music scene. His stop in Vancouver resulted in him receiving a personalized Canucks jersey! And, because he hasn't been mentioned in a paragraph, Daniel Bjornson is back with his jersey collage!

There's something about Canadian crooners and Las Vegas that goes hand-in-hand, it seems, as Celine Dion had a long stay in Vegas where she got a jersey, and we can now add Ottawa-born Paul Anka to the list after the Golden Knights gifted him a personalized jersey!

I had to jump into the time machine for this next image, but Jimmy Buffett has been on one of these lists. We can add a much younger Jimmy Buffett to a second time now as he appeared in Washington Capitals jersey in concert at some point in his career!

We get to the busiest section of the last two days as the Winnipeg Jets were spreading their logo around by handing out jerseys to everyone! American country singer Bailey Zimmerman got himself a 2022-23 Reverse Retro jersey. His touring partner on that concert circuit was Morgan Wallen who also came away with some Jets' home threads during a stop here. Noah Kahan visited the Jets for a game and a concert and ended up with a cap and a jersey. Hip hop Indigenous group Winnipeg's Most showed up to the Indigenous Music Awards wearing 1980s and 1990s Jets jerseys! I believe this is RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan in the Jets' RCAF Centennial jersey (thanks, Chris M.!). Punjabi musician Diljit Dosanjh already has a home Jets jersey, but the Jets went one step further in giving him a South Asian Heritage jersey! Daniel Greaves is the frontman for The Watchmen, and he's a huge Jets fan whether he's singing anthems at the games or watching while he's bartending at his bar, Motel, in Toronto! And because he needs to be mentioned again, Winnipeg-born Daniel Bjornson finally gets a place where he can show off his home jersey, his 2016 Heritage Classic jersey, his 2021 Reverse Retro jersey, his Aviator alternate jersey, and his 1990s Jets jersey with current road jersey hanging on the wall!

Ok, that's all the NHL teams I have in the folder of images of musicians wearing jerseys. That doesn't mean we're done, though, as we'll break into all the minor league and international jerseys tomorrow! HBIC Music Festival: Day One

As we hit the Labour Day weekend in September, there's a sense that summer is officially over as the weekend passes. While that day officially doesn't happen until later in September, the long weekend at the start of September was always the signpost of the summer turning to autumn as school always started in or around Labour Day. In saying that, the summer concerts that cities and towns have been holding are winding down as events move indoors again, so let's have some fun with all the musicians who got a hockey jersey this summer from the teams who call those cities and town home!

The full list of musicians holding or wearing a hockey jersey can be found here, and this list just keeps getting more and more impressive with the additions being made. If you have photos of a musician wearing or holding a jersey, send them through to me and I'll get them posted with you getting credit! I'm always open to more submissions than less, so let's make this "Musicians in Jerseys" list as comprehensive as we can! Here are the new additions!

Irvine, California is just south of Anaheim, so how approriate that Irvine rock back Thrice got themselves a set of Anaheim Ducks jerseys? If they had been official Mighty Ducks jerseys, those would have been simply awesome, but these will do.

Boston welcomed Old Dominion to their city, and the country music band received their Bruins jerseys for their appearance. Boston also added Teona Zak to their ranks when she sang before an alumni game, and the contemporary pop artist donned the Reverse Retro jersey for the occasion!

Calgary has had a number artists pass through their city, and the Flames were handing out jerseys like they were maps to the city. Among the musicians that received a jersey were country pop singer Morgan Wallen in a Reverse Retro, folksy pop singer Noah Kahan, the incomparable Snoop Dogg in a Reverse Retro, and Calgary-born Tate McRae who showed up in her Heritage Classic jersey only to be gifted a Flames' home jersey! Are the using some of that new arena money to pay for these free jerseys?

Winnipeg-born Daniel Bjornson seems to have a handful of jerseys at his disposal as you'll see throughout this post. The first instance comes up here because Daniel pieced together a collage of photos of him wearing jerseys, and the Carolina Hurricanes were one of those jerseys. Not sure what the purpose of this photo collage was in the bigger picture, but he's wearing the jersey!

Country music star Zach Bryan was on tour this summer on "The Quittin Time Tour" - the lack of an apostrophe there drives me mad - and one of the stops he made was in Chicago where the Blackhawks gave him a tour-specific jersey!

Alvin Lamar Worthy is better known as American rapper Westside Gunn, and the Buffalo-born musician seems to be a fan of Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche! The weird part is that Westside Gunn is a dedicated fan of professional wrestling, not hockey, so this might be his only appearance on this list!

Speaking of rare appearances, the Columbus Blue Jackets did not follow the practice of giving away jerseys to musicians who stopped in their arena or city, but they seem to be softening that stance. Case in point? M. Ross Perkins received a scarf and a jersey for his appearance in Columbus while rapper Ro Ransom was out on the town wearing the colours of the Blue Jackets.

This artist didn't pass through Dallas this summer, but him wearing the Stars jersey is a pretty big piece of hockey-music jersey history. We've seen Tupac Shakur in jerseys before, but here is the late rapper sporting the colours of the Stars!

The Detroit Red Wings can boast a couple of new musical fans as American rapper Jeezy was sporting the winged wheel while Daniel Bjornson makes his second appearance with a Detroit Red Wings jersey that he wore in that collage.

Roland "Rollie" Pemberton grew up in Edmonton before getting his big break as rapper Cadence Weapon, and the Canadian musician shows his devotion to his hometown team by appearing in a hype video in Oilers' blue and on another video where he's wearing the Oilers' alternate! Jake Ryan of Boyz II Men stood out in his Oilers jersey. Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 wore the #182 Oilers jersey on stage. Shockingly, Alberta-founded band Nickelback hadn't appeared in the Oilers' section yet, but they finally got their jerseys. Noah Kahan stopped in Edmonton for a night and came away with an Oilers jersey. And, like Nickelback who appears often, Snoop Dogg had yet to appear in the Oilers' musical fan group, but that has now been corrected as well!

The defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers will have new fans to boast after their win last season as musical acts came out of the woodwork to support the Cats. We already knew that Ariana Grande was a Panthers fan, but she showed up to last season's playoff run in a Panthers practice jersey. Rapper Future played a show in Sunrise, and he's now a bedazzled fan of the Panthers. Speaking of rappers, Lil Baby got himself a Panthers jersey when he stopped in Sunrise! Country music artist and Floridian Joey Braxton wrote a Panthers hype song and wore their colours as they marched to the Stanley Cup as well!

Los Angeles is a bit of a cheat code when it comes to finding musicians wearing jerseys, but it's still pretty awesome to see Billy Idol wearing the Kings' colours. You may not know her music well, but Jessica Meuse was on the 13th season of American Idol where she finished fourth, and it seems she took to the LA life by adopting the Kings as her team with additional clothing!

Matthew Raymond Hauri grew up in Rochester, Minnesota before he became the musician and rapper known as Yung Gravy, but it appears he hasn't forgtten his roots as he shows off his Minnesota Wild jersey (on the right)!

Like some of the other major cities in North America, Montreal gets a lot of musical acts through their city so this will be a larger paragraph about those artists. Lasso Montreal is an annual country music festival, and the Canadiens were on-hand to greet musicians like Dean Brody, Kane Brown, and Nate Smith! Among the other artists who are showing their devotion to the Habs are Rik Emmett from Canadian rock band Triumph, EDM-pop musician Jo Hysteria, Canadian rock band Monster Truck who we'll see again, American pop singer Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg is back for more as he gets jerseys from two of the toughest hombres to wear the bleu-blanc-et-rouge in Chris Nilan and Georges Laraque! Just for good measure, Daniel Bjornson's collage is back too!

For our last entry on Day One of this music festival, we go to Nashville where there was one artist showing his support for the Predators as country music artist Chase Wright got his gear. I'm sure there may be more artists that have appeared in Nashville over the last couple of years, but I haven't seen many images of musicians in jerseys. I'll have to keep looking.

Tomorrow, HBIC returns with Day Two of the HBIC Music Festival as I clear out the folder of images on my desktop. There are still lots of images to go through as the last sixteen NHL teams will see if they have any musical inspiration for the coming season, and there are some cool images of artists wearing non-NHL jerseys as well. Some of these are pretty awesome!

The Hockey Show - Episode 618

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is veering off its normal course of following the news and discussing major topics tonight for something a little more fun. In passing, Jason had mentioned the old McDonald's NHL mini goalie masks as he had seen a few for sale at a consignment store, and he and Teebz got to chatting about them prior to the last show they did in-studio before the renovations. There were many "do remember those" comments, and that's how we got here where our hosts will dive deep into NHL-McDonald's promotions tonight on The Hockey Show at 5:30pm CT!

Regardless of your stance on McDonald's and their food, it's hard to deny that they are a marketing force when it comes to toys and promotional products. Tonight, Teebz and Jason jump squarely into that world as they look at the run of McDonald's hockey cards and some of the interesting things found there, the NHL mini goalie masks and the story behind them, and the crossover the NHL and the Muppets did that brought McDonald's in as a third party to that promotional push. The entire show is dedicated to NHL-McDonald's promotions as the two hosts look at three fun campaigns from the mid-1990s, have some discussion surrounding those campaigns, and hopefully stir up some memories for listeners tonight on The Hockey Show at 5:30pm CT on one of 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!

Why Is She In An Arena?

Being that I'm not a fan of reality television in any form, I had no idea who this young was was until I started writing this article. That woman, however, might have the next hit song on your radio as Tate McRae is finding her way through the music world! The 20 year-old, Calgary-born singer, songwriter, and dancer - born on Canada Day in 2003 just to put her Canadianness over the top - made a name for herself at the age of 13 when she became the first Canadian to be named as a finalist on the television show So You Think You Can Dance. Since that time, she's ranged into voice acting, singing, songwriting, and dancing, and her music had over 53 million monthly listeners on Spotify as of 2022. Clearly, she's got talent.

You might be saying, "Teebz, I've never heard of her," and that's ok if you haven't because it seems like there's a good chance you will. She was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on November 18 when actor Jason Momoa hosted the show. She'll be embarking on a worldwide tour that starts in April in Europe before landing in North America in July where she'll be appearing in Toronto on July 27 before she heads over to Australia to conclude the tour. As stated above, she's popular on Spotify, and there's a good chance she's on a radio station in your city.

Being that this isn't a Canadian music blog, you may be wondering why I've spent two paragraphs talking about Tate McRae without mentioning hockey. Well, her newest single, "Greedy", has a lot of hockey visuals in it. Here's the video for "Greedy"!
For those asking, McRae released the video two months ago, and it already has over 49 million views on YouTube. "Greedy" is part of her new album that was released on December 8 called Think Later, and this might be one of those albums that gets a lot of play if you're looking for a holiday gift for someone. Or maybe for yourself.

Look, I'm no songwriter by any means and my ability to sing is limited to solo concerts in the car, but "Greedy" has a hook to it that gets into your head. I don't know if it will stick there for me, but there's an undeniable talent that McRae has. Her physical talents as a dancer are also on display in the video in terms of her flexibility and rhythm, and it's easy to see why she was a finalist on that reality television program.

My only question is this: why does this take place in a hockey rink?

According to McRae, she told People magazine,

"A guy had come up to me at a bar and he was like, 'Oh, you're so mysterious and I feel like I know nothing about you. You keep your cards so close to your chest," McRae, 20, recalls of the encounter to PEOPLE. "Then I was thinking, and I'm like, 'Yeah, it takes a lot for me to really open up and get to know someone.' You have to really get close to me."

"She adds, 'We started writing this really sassy song about the feeling of having utter confidence being like, 'Yeah, it takes a lot to really get me to open up.' And it ended up feeling like this really cool female empowerment song, which I loved.'"

As you can see, no mention of hockey, ice resurfacing machines, arenas, or anything else hockey-related in her inspiration for the song, so why does the video take place inside a hockey arena with the only very loose connection being that McRae is Canadian?

The answer may be a little darker than one expected as Tate McRae's ex-boyfriend is Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cole Sillinger! According to internet rumours, the two dated for a year before allegations of Sillinger cheating on McRae began to surface, but neither side has addressed nor confirmed nor denied those rumours. Frankly, it's none of my business as well, but it seems that her fans believe there's an underlying message in her lyrics that has manifested through her video filled with hockey imagery.

In any case, enjoy the music of Tate McRae as this young lady seems destined for big things! She's been nominated nine times for Juno Awards, but has yet to bring one home. It might only be a matter of time before she adds not only a Juno Award to her trophy case, but there may be a Grammy Award or two as well!
