The Beast

He made his name as an amateur wrestler before he made a brief stop as a professional football player. He moved on to the WWE and professional wrestling before returning to his roots in the UFC where he utilized that amateur wrestling background once more. Brock Lesnar certainly has had himself a heckuva career thus far, but hockey was never on the radar unless once counts his attendance at the University of Minnesota. And that's stretching the hockey ties. However, it seems Brock has taken a liking to hockey thanks to his new home in Saskatchewan near the Manitoba border where his sons play the sport, and the man known as "The Beast" was in attendance at tonight's Jets game!

It's always cool when you see a celebrity wearing the hometown colours, and Brock was given a jersey by the organization early in the first period when it was announced that he was in the building. Game host Brody Jackson got to play the role of "Mean" Gene Okerlund in asking Brock a few questions and holding the microphone, and Brock seemed to enjoy getting a little recognition from the fans.

The guys from JetsTV caught up with Brock to find out why the big guy was in town, and, if you keep your eyes on the background, it appears he brought the kids and his wife Rena, better known to wrestling fans as Sable.
Brock and his family, for those that don't know, live in Maryfield, Saskatchewan. Maryfield sits about eight kilometers west of the Manitoba border, and former hockey players Keith Magnuson and Lynn Powis both called the town home at one point. Perhaps there is a solid hockey tie to Brock after all!

That being said, Brock and Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien are friends off the ice as he stated, and his kids are Jets fans as well. It's always nice to see a celebrity come to town and support the team. Welcome to Jets Nation, Brock!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
