The Hockey Show - Episode 358
The Hockey Show, Canada' only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back today with Part Two of the interviews conducted at the Sami Jo Small Hockey School one week ago. Tonight, we meet a young woman who has been lighting lamps and filling scoresheets all over this continent, and who will be headed to Worcester, Massachusetts next season for some more hockey and learning! The second interview is one I look forward to each year because she really is one of the best in the business when it comes to giving interviews, and I am eternally grateful she allows me to speak with her considering how awesome she is. Get ready for two more incredible interviews tonight on The Hockey Show!
The first woman we speak to is pictured to the left where she's seen signing her letter of intent to attend the College of the Holy Cross next season as a Division-1 hockey player! That woman is Manitoban Paige McArthur who spent time with the Pursuit of Excellence before coming home for a season with the MFMHL's Central Plains Capitals. I talk to Paige about her career thus far, going to the NCAA next season, and we get interrupted by a studio audience as her players at the Sami Jo Small Hockey School drop in to cheer on Paige and deliver hugs! It was great meeting Paige, she's a bundle of energy and positivity, and she's going to take the NCAA by storm once she lands in Worcester!
The second woman really needs no introduction if you've followed hockey because she's done everything and been successful at every stop. Sami Jo Small is, in my view, one of the greatest players of all-time to call Manitoba home, and the camp she runs here every summer only seems to get bigger and better. Tonight, you'll hear Sami and I have an honest conversation about her life, the CWHL, the Toronto Furies, and where she sees women's hockey going after the creation of the Professional Women's Hockey Players' Association. Sami is honest and open, and I really cannot say thank you enough to her for her candid comments and her thoughts on the women's game. I will say that this interview is edited due to time constraints of our show, but I'll see below for the full interview.
The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, but we highly recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or perhaps another browser. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
Having lost faith in Facebook, I spend far less time on that site for good reasons. In saying that, you can still email all show questions and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! We're here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!
Tonight, Teebz sits down with Paige McArthur and Sami Jo Small to discuss their careers, their futures, hockey, life and much more only on The Hockey Show found exclusively on 101.5 UMFM, on the UMFM app, on the UMFM.com web stream!
