The Hockey Show - Episode 458

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight as Teebz goes solo with everyone off for Canada Day! You shouldn't worry too much, though, as Teebz finds lots to talk about as well as incorporating a lot of information about our great Indigenous Peoples so we can be better allies for our Indigenous friends. Being that it's Canada Day, I felt it necessary to include these because a united Canada is stronger than a divided Canada. In saying that, let's get to the show!

I'll proudly post this Canadian flag, designed by Kwakwaka'wakw artist Curtis Wilson, in honour of Canada Day and the Indigenous Peoples of Canada. Tonight, Teebz goes over the NHL Awards, the Stanley Cup Final, ESPN hiring everyone in hockey and doors potentially opening for Jennifer Botterill, Canadian hockey teams qualifying for the Olympics, U SPORTS players drafted by NWHL teams, the Russian women's professional hockey league expanding and why that makes Russia stronger, an update on the Robert Morris University debacle, the Canada West hockey schedules, and Teebz goes off on the Chicago Blackhawks over their handling of the disgusting sexual assault allegations alleged by former players. It's a busy night, there are some great Indigenous messages throughout the show, and the chatter is bookended by some great Indigenous music on this Canada Day! Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
