We Interrupt The Patch Proceedings...

Has something ever happened to you where you simply cannot contain your happiness or excitement to the point where it bubbles over and you want to cheer and be happy for eternity? That is how I felt when it was announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins had reached an agreement on a new arena deal with the city of Pittsburgh. While not having been formally announced yet, according to reports, the Penguins ownership group will make the announcement before the Penguins play the Barney Rubble Hairpieces tonight.

Not to ruin Crash Davis' wonderful speech in Bull Durham, but I believe in goal-scoring, the puck, the goalie, the small of a woman's back, the slapshot, high fibre, good Canadian beer, that the rants of Anne Coulter are self-indulgent, prejudiced, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing the Neutral Zone Trap and the dressed seventh defenceman. I believe in the saucer pass, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

And most of all, I believe in Mario Lemieux.

The story can be read here from TSN's feed, and here from Sportnet's feed. I know I'll have a goofy grin on my face all day now, but I'm glad the Penguins are staying where they belong: in Pittsburgh.

I apologize for the brevity of this post, but my happiness outweighs my need to stay and write. More patches soon, I promise. Keep your sticks on the ice!
