Watch Your Step, Kid

No one likes being embarrassed in front of their peers, and it goes without saying that no hockey player likes taking it on the chin when eleven former captains are on the ice for pre-game honours. The captains were on-hand for the Canadiens' celebration of their 110th anniversary, and the invitees included Yvan Cournoyer, Serge Savard, Bob Gainey, Chris Chelios, Guy Carbonneau, Kirk Muller, Mike Keane, Pierre Turgeon, Vincent Damphousse, Saku Koivu and Brian Gionta. And then there's Max Domi who tried to make the biggest splash of the ceremony with his fancy footwork.

The truth is that Domi's footwork wasn't all that great as seen below.
Yeesh. The 59 year-old Chris Chelios seemed unfazed by the stumble on the carpet that Domi had, even opting to throw a fake haymaker on Domi. The two men laughed it off, though, and it seems that no one was worse for wear by the trip on the carpeting.

Maybe the Canadiens should do this captain thing every game because the Habs came out looking sharp, snapping their eight-game winless streak with a 4-2 win over a very good New York Islanders team. If there was ever a time to turn their fortunes around, the Canadiens seized opportunity tonight with a big win, and perhaps this is the start of them getting back on-track.

Let's just hope that Max Domi doesn't crash on any other carpets or during any other ceremonies prior to the next handful of games.

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
