The Hockey Show - Episode 455

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, returns to the airwaves and web stream controlled by UMFM tonight with a really interesting show. Jenna, unfortunately, got trapped in meetings at work today so she wasn't able to participate, but tonight's show is a catch-up show as we get to chat with a guest who hasn't been on since 2016! She's doing some incredible work out on Long Island, so this is a show you're going to want to hear if you're interesting in the growth of women's hockey and a woman who has put the work, effort, dedication, and long hours into a program that is now thriving!

Tonight, we meet the woman to the left! That's Alexis Moed, and she's the driving force behind the New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey Program! Alexis briefly recaps what the situation was like back in 2016 before we get updates on how the program has evolved, grown, changed, and become one of the preeminent girls hockey programs in the metropolitan area of New York City and in the states of New York and New Jersey! We discuss enrollment, the curriculum featured at the New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey Program, some of the successes seen by the program over the last five years, where it may go in the next five years, and we name names when it comes to the amazing coaching staff that supports the New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey Program. Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
