The Hockey Show - Episode 467

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, returns tonight with a special show as Jason is off enjoying the last long(er) weekend of the summer. Normally, we don't get access to training camps so we're forced to gather information anecdotally from players and staff, but tonight's show is going to change all that as we get the guy in charge of training camp to give us his first impression of how the team is progressing. His view at camp is unique, so this is a show you want to listen to when it comes to understanding what he looks for in building his team.

Tonight, The Hockey Show is proud to welcome back a gentleman we hold in very high regard as Bisons women's hockey head coach Jon Rempel joins Teebz for the very first training camp report on this program! With no Canada West hockey last season, camp is a little different for the Bisons this season as Teebz and Jon discuss the success of the first annual Bisons Women's Hockey Golf Tournament, two specific alumni who stepped up in a big way to help the tournament (more on that below), 24 new players adjusting to the university hockey schedule laid out by Jon and his staff, the exhibition games and what Jon wants to see his team accomplish, Jon's thoughts on where the team stands in the bigger picture, the battle for the starter's position in the crease, the new faces on the bench, the discussions with players who didn't get to finish their five years in U SPORTS, Jon's thoughts on the coaching change for the Calgary Dinos, and whether or not this year's Bisons squad has a shot to play in PEI at the U SPORTS National Championship. It's always special when Jon gives us some time to discussion Bisons women's hockey, and tonight's episode is no different as he gives us the honest truth about how camp is going so make sure you tune in at 5:30pm CT on 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!

I mentioned the two alumni above who stepped up in a huge way to support Bisons women's hockey, and those two alumni are Addie Miles-Abbott and Kayla Duna whose company, Sablewood Drives+, was the title sponsor of the golf tournament! Sablewood Drives+ is an amazing company that handles all sorts of delivery options for those needing it. They do business, event, and personal deliveries: everything from personal grocery deliveries to curbside package deliveries for businesses to deliveries for all sorts of events that can be scheduled to take that worry off your mind. If you're looking for fast, efficient, exceptional delivery services, look no further than Sablewood Drives+!

Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.

If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!

Tonight, Teebz and Jon Rempel, head coach of Bisons women's hockey, discuss the golf tournament, training camp, adjustments for players and coaches, the exhibition schedule, who will stop pucks, players who opted to move on, getting ready for the Calgary Dinos on October 15 and 16, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
