The Hockey Show - Episode 517

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with our normal hosts as Jason makes his triumphant return from the wilderness after spending time at a camp! We'll get the update from him on how his week went in the middle of the Manitoba landscape before we dive into a number of hockey stories from across the globe! As we've done since it started, though, there will be no chatter about the international U20 men's tournament happening in Edmonton right now. If you're coming for that, you're not going to find it on The Hockey Show.

There's a pile of news to go over as Jason gets settled back into the hockey scene, so it will be busy and fast-paced tonight. Among the many topics tonight, Teebz and Jason will discuss the new leadership at Hockey Canada, the CBC report that found out that Hockey Canada's lawyers were manning the misconduct hotline, Team Canada's Women's World Championship roster and the upcoming tournament schedule, Team Canada's Para Women's World Challenge roster and schedule, the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds will be without a home for a while, the new U-Prairie Challenge and why that's good for university sports, the ECHL's Savannah Ghost Pirates have a player and a mascot, there are new coaches for Team Hungary and the Pembina Valley Hawks U18 program, the Jets are retiring two numbers despite one being not a number the player really wanted, $400 hockey sticks(!?!), and a hockey network is turning off the lights on September 1 much to the delight of our hosts. We're back to being a busy show as Jason returns to the co-pilot seat, so make sure you're listening to The Hockey Show at 5:30pm CT on 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!

If you live outside Winnipeg and want to listen, we have options! The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
