The Hockey Show - Episode 394
The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with our ongoing interview series as the radio station lockdown continues. We've spent a lot of time talking to players who have roots in Edmonton, Alberta, and it seems we'll stay in that province for another interview with a guy who has roots in the capital city! You likely know him from his work in the NHL and his appearances on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights, but he's an author, a mental health advocate, a husband, and father to three beautiful daughters, and a rather amazing individual!
Tonight, I am honoured, privileged, humbled, and proud to be able to sit down with a man whose NHL career was legendary, whose broadcasting career is award-winning, and whose charitable work has helped thousands. The Hockey Show is pleased to welcome former NHL netminder, current Sportsnet hockey analyst, and Hockey Night in Canada icon Kelly Hrudey to the program! Kelly's work on the ice is well-documented in his time with the New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks, but I'll talk to Kelly about some of the highlights such as the Easter Epic, the 1993 Stanley Cup Playoffs, being traded, and joining the team at Hockey Night in Canada. There's a lot to go over and I wish we had more than an hour to chat, but we'll squeeze as much in as we can tonight with Kelly Hrudey at 5:30pm CT on UMFM!
Before I post the media stuff, I upgraded the microphone I'm using, so hopefully it sounds a little more professional. The host is kind of a goofball so there's still work to be done when it comes to professionalism, but at least it shouldn't sound like I'm talking to Kelly in a fishbowl this week.
So where's the best place can you hear the show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, but we highly recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or perhaps another browser. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!
Tonight, Teebz goes one-on-one with longtime NHL netminder hockey broadcaster Kelly Hrudey about his career, his life, his family, his work, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
