The Hockey Show - Episode 477

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, hits the airwaves tonight on Remembrance Day with the Canada West hockey season at its first checkpoint! With the men having last week off and the women having this week off across the conference, it's a good time for reflection through the opening month of play. Are the Bisons who we thought they were? Are we seeing the expected results based on what we knew about the Bisons? Are there any teams that look unbeatable? What needs to change, if anything, for the Bisons to reach their expected results based on the first month of play? We'll dive into those questions and more!

Teebz is joined by Jason Pchajek on this Remembrance Day to examine what has gone right, what needs work, and what has to change for the Bisons men's and women's hockey teams to be successful this season. They discuss the impressive nature of the UBC Thunderbirds and Saskatchewan Huskies on the men's side before figuring out what the Bisons have to do to make the playoffs this season. They transition to the women's team by discussing how the Bisons have yet to put all three facets of the game - offence, defence, and special teams - together in any game thus far, and why this will be important with some tough games coming up. The second half of the show sees our hosts try to make sense of the complicated and convoluted math being used to achieve the U SPORTS Women's Hockey Top Ten which, in all honesty, makes no sense. It's a full U SPORTS hockey show on this episode, so make sure you tune in at 5:30pm CT on 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com to hear all of this!

I do want to make mention that I will be taking in a couple of Remembrance Day ceremonies this morning, so I may be off the grid this morning for a while. Please wear your poppies proudly, pay your respects to the veterans who are still with us after defending our freedoms and the freedoms of others in past wars, remember those who selflessly and courageously gave their lives to protect what we hold so dear, and show the current members of the Armed Forces that they are appreciated for standing up for Canadians. Today is a day to honour those who bravely put themselves in harm's way or who have done so in the past, and they deserve an outpouring of appreciation and respect on this day. Thank you to our veterans and our current members of the Canadian Armed Forces from this writer and The Hockey Show!

Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.

If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!

Tonight, Teebz and Jason offer evaluations on the Bisons men's and women's hockey teams based on early observations, what needs to be done to improve moving forward, they try to break down and understand the U SPORTS Top Ten rankings through the system used by U SPORTS, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
