The Hockey Show - Episode 491

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, dives into the aftermath of another incredible game played by Canada and the US as the Canadian women's hockey team is, once again, the Olympic champion! The sheer domination that this Canadian team showed through the Olympic tournament was hard to deny, but a gold medal game is where anything can happen - a bad bounce, a weird hop, a crazy deflection - and even the best teams can be derailed. Luckily, that didn't happen to the Canadian women as we dig into the stats and information from that game!

Tonight, Teebz and Jenna look at all the news and information coming out of the Olympic hockey tournaments for both the men and the women with, of course, a focus on the gold medal game. They discuss records set, records tied, achievements made, all-stars, and MVPs. They chat about whether this is the best Team Canada women's team ever, growth of the game thanks to Sarah Nurse and Jamie Lee Rattray, possible changes needed at the Hockey Hall of Fame, a U SPORTS alumna who needs some company, marketing the game through school mentions, USA Hockey's coaching questions, opportunities to see the women play after the Olympics, upcoming IIHF tournaments, dumb IIHF comments, and an idea to make the men's entry from Hockey Canada more competitive. It's a busy show as Canada's Olympic hockey squads return home, so make sure you're listening at 5:30pm CT on 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!

Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.

If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!

Tonight, Teebz and Jenna chat gold medal performances, Hall-of-Fame players, surprising injuries, questionable decisions, improvements for the men, why the IIHF should stop making recommendations, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
