Home Opener
The Manitoba Bisons women's hockey team plays their home opener tonight, so you know where I'll be this evening as UMFM will have the call of the game as we've done over the past number of seasons. While Manitoba dropped both games in Lethbridge last weekend, the home opener at Wayne Fleming Arena always brings with it some excitement and energy, and this season is no different with a brand-new scoreboard and videoboard above the ice surface, new additions around the rink, and a new team with ten rookies looking to right the wrongs of last weekend.
The team they will face are the Mount Royal Cougars who come into the game having split with the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend. The 1-1-0-0 Cougars have a veteran squad whose experience will be unmatched by the Bisons tonight, so it's expected that the Cougars should be able to find a way to overcome the exuberance shown by the Bisons. That being said, the games still have to be played, so perhaps we'll see some magic one way or another tonight from these two teams.
Without further adieu, here are the 8-bit lineups that the teams will roll out. These lineups are always subject to change, but these are the lineups that we were given prior to the start of the game, so they should be fairly accurate.
The game can be heard on UMFM tonight and Sunday's game can be heard on the UMFM Second Stream. In addition to that, Kyleigh Palmer and I will can also be heard on the Canada West TV broadcast as the two broadcasts will mirror one another again this season.
It's another exciting season of Bisons women's hockey action, and it starts tonight so make sure you tune in and support the Herd!
Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
