The Hockey Show - Episode 368

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight to do what we do best: talk hockey from all corners of the planet! Ok, maybe we won't hit every corner, but we will have Jason Pchajek, sports editor for The Manitoban and play-by-play voice for the Manitoba Bisons men's hockey team, sitting in the co-pilot's chair as Beans is taking the night off to setup a triage unit for his sick family. There's a lot to discuss as the NHL is back in full swing, the U SPORTS schedule has started, the AHL is warming its engines up, and the WHL is off and running. We also have some updates regarding Pledge-O-Rama that happens in a couple of weeks, so it should be a busy show again!

Jason and I will take a look at the ongoings in the NHL as the league kicked everything off last Wednesday, including having the Jets play through a four-game road trip. We'll talk about the Bisons women's hockey team as they got bounced out of Lethbridge by the Pronghorns before suiting up this weekend at home against the Mount Royal Cougars. The Bisons men's team dropped by the University of North Dakota and the University of Nebraska-Omaha for a pair of games during the conference bye, and we'll see how they did before heading to Calgary this weekend for their own battle with the Cougars. We need to throw out some kudos to an amazing woman in Susana Yuen who blazed a trail for women in this province and was honoured for her work this past weekend. And, finally, Jason and I will talk about Pledge-O-Rama and all the great stuff that his show and The Hockey Show has happening in a couple of weeks! All of this happens at 5:30pm CT, so settle in and join us for some hockey chatter!

Where's the best place can you hear us, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, but we highly recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or perhaps another browser. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
