The Hockey Show - Episode 382

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back tonight with one of the biggest shows I've ever put together in the history of the program due to the names that will be joining me tonight. As promised after the first Winnipeg Jets Roundtable, there would be another one and tonight is the night when it happens! Four more esteemed guests will join me tonight as we break down the biggest Jets stories from the last few months, the issues facing the Jets as they battle for a playoff spot, and some of the social media topics that have come up between fans. The four gentlemen joining me tonight have opinions and ideas, and I'll bring them together for a discussion tonight at 5:30pm CT!

I am pleased to welcome this gentleman back for his second appearance on The Hockey Show as Murat Ates, the Winnipeg Jets writer for The Athletic, will join us. The former University of Manitoba student returns to his old stomping grounds where he'll bring his vast knowledge about the Jets to the program. If there's something that Murat doesn't know about the Jets, the players, or the staff, it's likely no one knows about it, and that's why I'm excited for him to be part of tonight's panel. Murat knows his stuff, and his wealth of information about the local NHL team will be on display as he becomes one of the four pillars of knowledge on the Jets Roundtable.

I am pumped to welcome this gentleman to the show for the very first time with hopes he'll be back in the future. He's already a radio professional with years of on-air experience as Greg Mackling, co-host of CJOB's The Start, brings his love of hockey, his passion for the Jets, and his excellent insight to the program tonight! I am a big fan of Greg's work on CJOB and in the community as he works with a number of charities and organizations, and if I can even do 1% of all the things in this city that Greg accomplishes I'll consider myself successful. He's a fantastic Winnipegger who loves the Jets, and I'm proud to have him as another pillar of knowledge on the Jets Roundtable tonight!

The brains behind the voice behind the podcast is back tonight for his second visit as AJ, host and producer of the Jets Centric Podcast, make a return to the The Hockey Show! AJ was on the first Jets Roundtable where he brought some solid chatter, some great opinions, and excellent perspectives on the various topics we discussed that evening, and I'm pretty confident he'll be bringing those traits again tonight. In a fun crossover, The Hockey Show will also provide the audio for this Jets Roundtable to the Jets Centric Podcast for their fans as well!

Our final pillar of knowledge tonight is another contributor on the Jets Centric Podcast, but he's also one of the more knowledgeable Jets fan I've seen on social media with his great comments and solid analyses as Chris Mackling will also join the Jets Roundtable on The Hockey Show tonight where he'll brings his great views and extensive knowledge on the Jets to the broadcast as well! Chris' work on the Jets Centric Podcast made him a shoo-in for the fourth spot on the panel, and I am pleased and humbled to welcome him to the show for the first time in what I hope will be many times!

With these four men in-studio tonight to examine the Jets and their accomplishments this season, we'll break down what to do about the Jets' blue line and whether or not moves have to be made, what moves can or should be made if any, and is this defence corps good enough to get the Jets into and through a round or two in the playoffs. We'll look at their schedule prior to the All-Star Game with four games remaining, what the Jets need to do in those next four games, and whether or not the Jets are starting to mark any of them as "must win" games. We'll talk about the season Connor Hellebuyck is having with respect to potential trophies that his name is being mentioned around, and how his numbers have been so good despite the "next man up" defensive unit the Jets have employed this season. And with the coaching carousel spinning as it is, we'll ask if Paul Maurice should feel any heat if the Jets miss the playoffs, who each of the panelists would like to see as a replacement in the event of a dismissal, and whether or not GM Kevin Cheveldayoff should share in that heat based on who assembled this team. In other words, it's a busy show tonight at 5:30pm CT with four of the best Jets fans and media members I could find to assemble the Jets Roundtable on The Hockey Show on 101.5 UMFM!

Where's the best place can you hear us if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, but we highly recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or perhaps another browser. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.

If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!

Tonight, Teebz moderates an incredible panel of Murat Ates, Greg Mackling, Chris Mackling, and AJ as they break down all the situations, problems, accomplishments, injuries, achievements, and outlooks for the Winnipeg Jets only on the Jets Roundtable exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
