The Hockey Show - Episode 493

The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, hits the airwaves tonight while standing in solidarity with Ukraine as they battle to keep their independence from Russia's ongoing invasion. The atrocities of war are on full display no matter where you look, and it's not quite the topic that one enjoys discussing at any time, let alone on a radio sports show, but Jenna and I will dig into the laundry list of things at which Russia and their ally, Belarus, are no welcome among the various topics tonight. It's a lengthy list, so be prepared as we go over everything in hockey affected by Russia's decision to invade Ukraine!

I apologize for this preview being a little later than normal, but some real-life business got in the way this morning. Nonetheless, Teebz and Jenna look at all the teams, leagues, and players that have been affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine before they discuss AHL goalie goals and some of the history from that league, the PWHPA getting closer than ever before to having a professional women's hockey league, more Canada West playoff chatter as four teams remain on both the men's and women's sides of things, examine the Canada West All-Star and All-Rookie Teams that were selected, and more! Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
