The Hockey Show - Episode 498
The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, is back on the air tonight, coming live to you from the friendly confines of CJUM-FM's studios located on the campus of the University of Manitoba! For the first time in what feels like a decade, we'll fire up the old transistors and adjust the rabbit ears as we attempt to send a radio signal out to the universe for about an hour. It seems like a tall task for a couple of people who know a little about radio and even less about hockey, but we're going to do our best in trying to entertain and inform you tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, the first live episode of The Hockey Show is back after 107 off-campus shows!
Teebz and Jason, pictured to the left, will handle the chatter tonight as Jenna is still out with a nasty, non-COVID, springtime bug, and the phone lines WILL BE OPEN! We'll be taking your calls as we discuss some of the bigger moments in hockey from the past week including the 2022 U SPORTS National Men's Hockey Championship results, a closer look at the Jay Beagle-Troy Terry situation and the problems surrounding that, U SPORTS having no clue who UBC's Rylan Toth is, the retirement of one of hockey's greatest voices, and whether the Flyers were right to scratch Keith Yandle at this point in the season. There are also a handful of congratulations and notable news pieces we need to mention as well, and there's an announcement for a couple of upcoming events! It's a jam-packed show for the first time in-studio since March 2020, so settle in at 5:30pm CT with your radio and phone as you listen to The Hockey Show on 101.5 FM, Channel 718 on MTS TV, or via UMFM.com!
Where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, so if you want to stream the show I'd recommend Radio Garden to do that as it works nicely with Safari. If you're more of an app person, we recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or Google Play Store. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
Tonight, as stated above, the phone lines are open if you want to drop us a comment, so feel free to call us at (204) 269-8636! We'd love to hear from you and your thoughts on hockey or just how the show kept you entertained! Of course, if you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!
Tonight, Teebz and Jason look at winners and losers, fights and "The Code", names and pronunciations, the end of an era, the end of a streak, kudos to all sorts of people from across the hockey world, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
