The Hockey Show - Episode 402
The Hockey Show, Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, hits that airwaves tonight at 5:30pm CT as we always do, and I'm honoured to have a guest tonight who has literally been all over the continent, accumulated all sorts of awards and honours, and was born right here in the city of Winnipeg where he grew up. It's always an honour to speak to the guys who paved the way for hockey today, and tonight's guest certainly did that with his tough play and his ability to put the puck in the net.
The Hockey Show is proud, honoured, privileged, humbled, and pleased to welcome Cam Connor to the show tonight! Cam's career took him from Winnipeg to Flin Flon to Phoenix to Houston to Montreal to Edmonton to New York and places in between, and he's won a Stanley Cup, an Adams Cup, was named a WHA All-Star, played with both Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky, played in a Heritage Classic, and has been inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame! Tonight, we talk to him about growing up in Winnipeg, playing in Flin Flon, getting drafted by both the WHA's Phoenix Roadrunners and the NHL's Montreal Canadiens, playing for a number of different coaches and how it affected his game, and more! It's an incredibly informative chat, so make sure you tune in tonight at 5:30pm CT on 101.5 UMFM!
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Mr. Connor does an incredible podcast called View From The Penalty Box as seen in the image above. In it, he talks about his career, his teammates, and a pile of other amazing things he's seen and done in his career. I listen to it regularly as I find Cam's stories to be rather entertaining, so check it out his View From The Penalty Box site, on the Apple Podcast page, or over on the Stitcher page. I guarantee you'll have a laugh hearing Cam tell stories from his point of view on a number of great players and moments in his career as well his interviews with some of the greats!
With that noted, where's the best place can you hear tonight's show if you're outside Winnipeg or not near a radio, you ask? The new UMFM website's online streaming player is pretty awesome if you want to listen online. If you're using an Apple device, the player doesn't seem to like Safari yet, but we highly recommend you use the TuneIn app found on the App Store or perhaps another browser. If you do use the TuneIn app, you won't be disappointed. It's a solid app.
If you have questions, you can email all show queries and comments to hockeyshow@umfm.com! Tweet me anytime with questions you may have by hitting me up at @TeebzHBIC on Twitter! I'm here to listen to you, so make your voice heard!
Tonight, Teebz goes one-on-one with hockey legend Cam Connor about his time in the MJHL, the WHA, the NHL, winning championships, making mistakes, and much more exclusively on 101.5 UMFM and on the UMFM.com web stream!
